What spell type do you prefer?
Well, I've been thinkingabout this for a while, and I've decided to ask you guys, who probably know more than me, this question:
What kind of spells do you prefer? Direct damage, curses, blessings, or summon/illusion spells? And waht about Adventure spells; how often do you use those?
I myself prefer casting mass <blessing> or <curse> spells the first two rounds of the combat, and then change to direct damage for close combat.
What do you do?

I usually
cast poison or plague in the earlier rounds of combat.
Then later I start with animate dead/raise vampires and such.
Death magic's the best!
(Also in Magic: The gathering - cover of darkness... )

another spell type
i prefer none of the abovementioned types, but advocate another type -- wicked spells. the ones that dont have anything to do with percentages (increase/decrease sth) or getting a bit more people, but that change the nature of the situation. like forgetfulness. or teleport. or even blind and hypnotize, for that matter. in siege combat, a simple spell like displacement works wonders and outperforms much higher level spells. after all, shove those nasty cyclopses off the tower, and voila -- they are harmless.

Yeah, I agree that those spells are great, but most of them are curses.... So they're not really 'other' spells.

I like "song of peace" and "confusion". They give you the time to take out the enemy by your shooters or spellcasters especially when you are playing with order.

Obviously it depends on what am up against or where am fighting. In general though i prefer DD spells, esp for those get them out of the way mine fights around the map. My object is usually to kill them asap, and dont usually end up worrying about anything else

I also love the Teleport spell, esp. during sieges. just teleport those dwarves/Golems/Nagas/Golem Dragons or other creature inside the walls of your enemy, or your enemies out, if you are the defender, and you're set.
My favourite Adventure spell (many seem to forget those), are the Town Gate. It's great if you're far away from your own towns, are low on creatures, haven't upgraded your spellbook for awhile, or are hunted by a supreme enemy..
Also, I think the First/Snake Strike and the Giant/Dragon Strength are great. Cat reflecses are also good.

What about a combo of two great DEATH spells?
1. Use hand of death (and knock off say 7 angels)
2. Use animate dead (and let the angels ressurect your devils!)

I prefer those Confusing, Blinding etc. spells. Then it would be increases/decreases and blesses/curses. But the best of all is not a spell type, but a spell system of Chaos. Cat Reflexes is very useful and I like its type even if I dunno the full name of it.

I'd prefer to use Death Call

I use whatever spell is appropriate.
It also depends on what alignment you play as well.
I like a mix of nature/order/life.
