WoG: Soul eater

As most of you know WoG has added new commanders, well the necro commander, The Soul Eater, comes with animate dead for lvl 1-5 creatures. The team says this is too powerful. I am just wanting to get some WoG players Opinions.

Must Have Magic power as one of your 4 commander skills.

1st lvl you can cast 1 time
2nd lvl 2 times
3rd lvl 3 times
4th lvl 4 times
5th lvl 5 times
Grand Master Level 6 times

What do you guys think? Perferable WoG players.

I don't agree it's too powerful. I think other commanders should be improved. For example, casting mass haste or mass cure would be much better.

Glad to see I am not the only one that thinks the Soul Eater ability is not too powerful.  It can't animate destroyed stacks and only animates level 1 to 5.

I just love The specialty, but not the comander.... (Lich Kings, Lich Kings !!!!).... where was I ? Uhmm... oh yes ! Well IMHO it is not powerfull, because it cannot animate Ghosties and Dreadies ! Only Lichies !!!!

I use them for skells only most of the time, so I don't care how many levels it can anmiate .

IMHO they need tro make all commanders abilities to benifit there army type like the soul eater benifits necro armies.

One of the WoG team members, Arstahd, has come up with a script and I think you can get it from his own site, but I don't remember how to get there, that Enhances commander abilities. This script seems more balancing than the regular version we use now. For instance the Ogre Lord can not only cast stoneskin, but haste also. And the palidin can not only cast cure, but bloodlust too. I don't remember what the other commanders can do, but it seems more balancing to me.

But not direct damage spells, oh no. Spells like curse or disrupting ray would be neat though.

Turn undead

I tried to modify the enhanced commanders script so that paladin casts destroy undead after cure. It works only with some creatures like skeletons, otherwise it crashes the game. Does somebody know how this could be fixed?

You might try asking this in the erm help section since Fnord the lead scripter from WoG team visits those type threads quite often and helps any way he can.  Or you could simply IM him and ask but I figure the erm help thread would be your best approach.

Unbalanced Commanders

I don't find the Soul Eater to be too powerful.

I find the commander for the Inferno towns far more fun to use as they have an innate ability to charm creatures into your army, thus it seems to help late in the game when you're raiding level 7 lairs and you're up against a load of creatures, you get some of the guards, even if there are no others there normally.

I also find the commander for the conflux to be the most infuriating when I'm going against them with a huge army and have that stupid commander convince a portion of my army to go home.  

Nothing like losing a stack of supreme archangels, or something like that.

I know it's only a percentage, but that percentage could prove to be just what you need.

I doubt the ERM will change, at least not in the near future. However, it's possible that you could add a test to the script to see which creature type is there and only cast the spell if it's a type that doesn't crash the game.

When I wrote my Living Scrolls script, I left out this spell (and several others), primarily because they did often cause crashes when cast by ERM.

Soul eater does not worry me. Its that bugger who nicks your army before a battle. To make it worse it has te be the commander from Flux, the most unbalaced army to begin with.

Yeah all commander but flux need upg.  On my wog personally,(dunno bout yours) esp, b/c flux commanders summon elementals instead counterstrike.  Also in battle, commanders need to be more balanced.  There like homm4 heroes: too weak beginning, or new, but unstoppable at high levels!
