Examples for the cheating of the computer player

Did You notice that the computer player is cheating sometimes ?

It seems that he always knows what's in a Pandoras Box. He leaves some boxes unopened because he knows that there are creatures in it, that he can't carry with him.

In combat he always gets moral on the creatures that he makes the best benefit of.

He knows the frontiers of the fog of war and stops in the dark zone, so that You can't identify him.

Any more observations ?

In order for programmers to simulate intelligence, they allow the AI to cheat.  For example, have you ever noticed that the computer's area full of mines guarded by medium to tough creatures are left untouched?  But if that is so, how can they afford all of the creatures that they keep throwing at you?  Simple.  The computer cheats.

Still, sometimes the cheating doesn't work out quite the way the AI would best benefit from, so it all evens out in the end.  Go karma.

Yep, I already presumed this.
Another thing which always makes me wondering - in almost every cases the AI doesn't build the Mana Vortex in the Dungeon castle, but he always visits the Magic Springs if there are any.

Yes, the CPU does cheat.  I checked on many computer games under controlled conditions.  On one real-time strategyy game (Empire Earth) I set a specific number of resources and just watched the computer.  It had soon built every thing it could (several times over), costing over 3x the number of resources I had, and it had gathered 0 resources!  The CPU's main thing is just the resource advantage; that's the easiest way to level the playing field.  Also, stopping in the dark, for example, and knowing before the battle the precise number of units it's fighting makes it easier for the CPU to balance with the somewhat more talented human player.

yes, but the computer i think has a right to cheat... i mean, if youve ever played agenst a computer player you will relize they are pretty dumb. the whole running around in circles when traped and their inability to use spells effectivly.

so ill give em some bonuses, real players are alot harder anyway.

I agree, I just said that the CPU really does cheat, not that it shouldn't.
