There are other ways to do this, for example by appearance of the critters. Archangels and Silver Pegasi ought to be in the same army, they look so right together! Nagas and medusas! Obsidian gargoyles, wraiths, dread knights, and black dragons, now that's a scary army!
And here's by effect: assuming that the necromancy skill raises the hero's native level 1 creature, I want pixies, thousands of speed-9 pixies instead of speed 4 skeletons.
And if pit lords raise your level 4 creature, I want pegasi; and then I want Archangels to resurrect, and my army is unkillable. (Need to fill in level 2, 3, 6.)
Another one I like is the no-retaliation army, sprites, hags, cerberi, vampires, (zealots or liches), magic elementals, and archdevils. Shooters get no retaliation, so I put one in at level 5.)

1) Gremlins - the weakest archer who gets bullied all the time because of this.
Upgrade - Pissed Gremlins - same ranged unit as above. Special: no melee penalty and 2x damage on retaliation.
2) Archers - get into the fights with the Elves all the time because they think that crossbows are better than bows. Upgrade: Marksmen - shoots twice, does 2x damage on all bow using units (lizards, elves, rangers, medusas, etc).
3) Elves - see above. Upgrade: Grand Elves - shoots twice, does 2x damage on all units with the crossbow.
4) Mages - same special as heroes 3. Upgrade: Mad Mages -have a 5% chance of casting armageddon each time they get hit.
5) Liches - same special as heroes 3. Power Liches - have a very cool looking staff. Special: can walk up to a unit and hit with a staff with no melee penalty (even if they still have some shots left).
6) Cyclops - same special as heroes 3. Cyclop Champions - they throw their rocks with so much power that they can knock the unit back a few hexes with it.
7) Titans - same special as heroes 3. Upgrade: Hardened Titans - after living for so long alongside the mad mages they have developed an immunity to armageddon.
Town name? Sniper Shack
Special Building? Booze Merchants - once built increases the morale of all Sniper Shack units everywhere.

So if the 3 gremlins that survive manage to hit your Mad Mages, there's a 20% chance they'll cast armageddon and kill not just the 3 gremlins but half your own army?
Cool.
Against your army, I want to cast advanced Forgetfulness round 1 :-)

Expert you mean? Titans are immune... and this is where the anti-forgetfuless pendant or expert cure come into play
Btw, the thread isn't called "name the strongest level 1-7 creatures", it is "build your fantasy town" I like shooters, so this town is my fantasy town.

No problem mate, we all understood what you said. But still, you need more experience in heroes. Basilisks and Liches are not the most usefull creatures in the game. And you must evaluate the creatures by their efficiency and not by their appearance
