noob: move faster!!!
me: kills a couple of small critters with the main (1-2 mins)
noob: what is taking so long? you slow!!!
me: attacks full crypt...
<SYSTEM>: n00bn@m3_345 has left the game.
me: gets boots of speed from the crypt with almost no losses. gets earth magic after the fight. moves a few more steps. sees a tope and a level 7 dwell... sighs, takes one last look at the tope and the dwell... wonders why he never gets those in real games... quits the game...
This post is just hilarious!!!  I've seen this happen and have had it happen to me so many times.
me: So what rules would you like?
noob: gogogogogogo!!!
me: So no rules? Diplo?
noob: yeah, no diplo... gogogogogogo!!
me: Wait.. so what else?
noob: standard rules... gogogogogo!
me: Well, I just want to be clear on the rules so both players will have no doubt as to what can and can't be done. Standard can mean 1 thing for player A and another for player B.

This of course was after 2 hours of playing and him asking me all these questions... I finally found out he was 11 and "new how to play".

Best Heroes from every town
Castle: Lyonis, he starts with Prayer, if he learns Water Magic he is more effective than the Angelic Alliance.
Rampart: Personally, I preffer Ryland. He has Diplomacy, he needs just a few troops pf his own and neutral monsters will start running at his side.
Necropolis: Thant is the best with his Animate Dead, also the undead edittion of Jeddite.
Dungeon: Jeddite, the living edittion of Thant,if better than all. I had a hard time choosing between him and Deemer.
Tower: Solymr ibn Wali Barad, the best in both HOMMAMIII and IV.
Inferno: Nymus, with her Pit Fiends. She is also the best in WoG.
Fortress: Voy, only if you're playing on a map with a lot of water.
Stronghold: Trayxor, he starts with a pack of Wolf Riders.
Conflux: Lacus, and his Tactics skill.

You really should try to get some online games going vs human players. After about 15-20 games, i´m pretty sure, your list will change completely. You won´t name ANY hero u did this time....believe it or not....

Im gonna have to say either Gurnisson from Stronghold......or Christian form Castle........really anybody with the ballista ability is good.......when u add the ogre leader into the mix the ballista is sooo fricking sweet!!!! U can beat things ur not suppose to

True, ballistics are good.
But to win a HUGE battle it's not good enough.
Example:
You play Christian, you have:
10000 Halbediers
7500 Marksmen
5000 Royal Grifins
4000 Crusaders
3000 Zealots
2000 Champions
1000 Archangels
(yes it's possible to have this kind of army, did it more than once on-line.)
Then, say your opponent has this:
20000 Familliars
10000 Magogs
5000 Cerberi
4000 Horned Demons
3000 Pit lords
2000 Efreet Sultans
1000 Archdevils
An attack of any of these whipes out your nice little ballista,
and out goes your big advantage.
My advice is not to trust on things you can have only one of.
Like not taking just one level7 creature with you when you can afford it.(maybe exclude the Azure)
Your ballistics hero's are good, but don't rely on them to do major battles only because of that.
Now, when leveled a little and developed a little skills,
you can try to do so, but keep your butt away from huge armies when trusting on a ballista only

I really felt from my chair after i read this last post....lol
What online games (and against whom??) did u play to gather 1000 Archangels?? (i know it´s possible in singleplayer maps, but....)
Gurnisson with his ballista will kill u latest week 5 on XL with underground, so i guess you won´t have that much Archangels at that time...vs those Ancient Behemots of Gurni that is....

Corona mentioned an Ogre Leader, who is a Stronghold commander; he actually gives additional ballistae as he levels up.

OMG you are so funny (and at single-layer maps there is a time-limit, duhh)
My opponent was rubbish one of the times, but I did it more often on XL maps (did it occurr to you you can have more than one town? )

True true..........I forgot to say that when ur hero's get incredibly strong (like the set of stack's u just mentioned).......then the ballista is usless.........but
#1. Come back to reality my friend........ Rarely (I mean like once in a lifetime......or maybe if u dnt have a life and all u do is play HOMM Ü) do u get THAT many units built up in a game....I mean i've done it too........but ur talking like 10 + hours of gameplay for something that big (probably more if there are multiple teams u r playing against)..........unless u just waste all ur money on upgrading the amount of units u get per week within ur base....... even so ur still talking a long time......LONG LONG TIME Ü
#2. Ur wrong about only being able to have one ballista...The ogre lead allows u to gain X amount of ballista, depending on ur hero's level......I've had like 30 ballista B4......but still ur right.... I've never based a game off of just having good ballista.......though when u combine any hero with ballista speciality + The Ogre leader + Expert Warfare ur gonna be set fer a little while.......just not against other heroes as strong or better than u r.......its great for killing monsters guarding stuff though!!!!

Ummmmmmmm...........do u want to rethink ur Stronghold choice??? I play with Tyraxor all the time.........but Im srry wolf riders and wolf raiders have NO HEALTH....and that = death.......I mean yeah they r koo and u can get crap loads of them......but he is not the best Stronghold hero........I'd rather have the hero with Behemoth speciality (I can't remember his name right now)..........Behemoths can eat wolfies in one chomp ya know.....part of a well-balanced breakfast Ü
