That was a great post! That was the best explaination ever, however I don't think Saddam really wants to talk it out anymore. We have only been talking it out for 12 years. It has to end somehow.

Honestly if you want yourself a good chuckle see the evolution of war. Its like watching the evolution of men and back to our ooze(popular belief not mine tho).
There is a few things that remain constant in all wars throughout all history.
Rape
Pillaging
Discrimination
Idiotic Leaders and the people who follow them
one thing you will notice there is a "Bush" in all wars infact there are 2 of em in the most current one.

My 2 cents about PFC Lynch
Amen to her for bravely fighting in the face of insurmountable odds.
I've been following coverage of her for about 2 weeks now, and I've got to say that I smell a rat.
Why was it reported that she had bullet wounds? The Washington Post reported this first, I believe. How could they be so erroneous? Why was CNN still scrolling about her wounds when her father already revealed that, in his discussion with one of her doctors, that she had not sustained any bullet wounds?
I may be going out on a limb here, but I feel that the reports of her wounds were exaggerated to inflame American sentiment about the enemy's treatment of a woman.
And Bort, she isn't entitled to privacy. She is a soldier. And as a soldier she is a symbol. If Uncle Sam wants to utilize her as a symbol, then by golly he has a right.
I only fear that idiots will exploit her to justify altering our armed forces, thus allowing women to serve on the front line.
One more thing. I read that an Iraqi lawyer peered into the hospital where she was being held, saw her being slapped around, and reported it to us. I will tip a glass in honor of him tonight.

This gentleman has now been granted asylum into the United States and I hope they give him a medal or something. Can they do that with a non-national?
Ironically, I've heard the oppotis theory around these parts. The speculation is that she was beaten in captivity, causing the broken limbs, and that they are keeping this quiet for the sake of moral.
Frankly this makes no sense to me and I like your theory on propaganda better (however,it is pretty clear that she did suffer broken limbs and injured discs -- from the looks of her face however, which was clear, I still speculate a fall from a grfeat height or something other than beating... Ah, well, all still just speculation!)
Also -- they're just talking about this right now -- they found Lynch's dog tags in the home of a Baath Party member in another town (Ew that's creepy, like trophy-gathering or someting...)

Hmm... interesting post I bet they DID make up the bullet holes.
Hmm I guess it is stil speculation right now.

Okay, so finally some clarification about this big secret respecting Private Lynch's wounds. (Y'all probable know all this already, but just in case...)
Brother/father/mother of Private Lynch verified yesterday in a live interview that it the Private herself who has not spoken about her injuries yet. Apparently when asked she has said something about just wanting to go home. That is direact from the family. So nobody knows because she has told nobody. (Hhhhhhhhhh....doesn't sound to good, does it?!?)
Also, it has been verified that she really did "empy every clip in the place" whilst resisting capture (girl after my own heart). Thus (the following is SPECULATION on my part): If she had compound fractures causing broken skin, and had just been in such a brutal gunbattle, then a reasonable induction by those observing her wounds might be that in such a firefight she was more likely than not wounded by low-velocity gunfire, and/or knife wounds. I'd be willing to bet that this is where the initial reports came from.

Thanks for the update Peacemaker
I've been missing reports about her for the last few days. One thing that caught my attention today on CNN was an Al-Jazeera reporter was being interviewed by Wolf Blitzer. He reported his observations about the Iraqis that he had seen in 'liberated' towns. He stated that people seemed to be VERY happy about Saddam being toppled. Now I don't know if this a part of realpolitik on the part of Al-Jazeera. But I found it surprising and warm to hear that a member of a news organization that has a totally opposite view of the war...is being...ah...fair or impartial?
I'm sure I'm not the only American who at times has felt that Al-Jazeera was anything but a propaganda piece for islamicists.
And I admit that I was dubious when they threatened to pull coverage of the war when some of their reporters were expelled from Baghdad. My impression at the time of hearing that bit of news was that it was a deliberate attempt to gain credibility in the eyes of the west. I admit that impression was completely conjectural, but I learned a long time ago to trust my 'gut' instincts.
Needless to say, my eyes and ears are opened a little wider.

Yes, indeed. It is true... The Middle East passed through the looking glass today as the Pan-Arabist world gaped unbelieveingly at images of Iraquis and Marines dancing together in the streets and giving one another flowers... A few of their reporters really did momentarily respond with a sort-of 'I don't believe it' candor, at least a few times today that I saw.
<EEEEEK! How politically incorrect of those Iraquis!!>
I suppose it's these rare moments of late that still keep me hoping for the human race, and seeing all those U.S. and Iraqui folks pulling down that big statue together in the square was one of them... Kind-of reminded me of the Russians putting flowers in the tank barrels in Krasnaya Ploschad about a decade ago...
GAUGHD I hope it lasts and we don't mess up this next round like we did the last one.
Well??? So???? Why aren't all you conservative folk out hear gloating????

Well, I'm just glad that they toppled those statues. I heard that, having failed to acquire nuclear weapons, Iraqi scientists were working on giant statue animation technology. We have narrowly averted having 50 foot Saddams rampaging through New York like a bad 60s Japanese movie.
On the other side of things, I now REALLY hope that W was wrong about Iraq having chemical and biological weapons. If they had them, and Iraq is now under US and British control and they haven't found them, it immediately begs the question of where they are now, and more to the point, who has them.
