Have no fear there is already an artifact being made for LOTR people.  Kitten has made the graphics already and WoG 3.58 should have it in it so you LOTR fans will have an artifact to play with script and all.

COOL! WOG 3.58 IS GONNA RULEZ! If so, I'll perhaps try to make a LotR campaign for Wog. Will need LOTS of scripting though... anyway, I'll try. Better to have several artifacts, though. Ring of Power, of course, plus the Nazguls' blades or Orcrist or something like that...

RING OF POWER
Level: Relic (4);
Worn on the finger, it makes your hero and all his army invisible on the map (so he cannot be attacked). Besides, it adds +10 to all the primary skills. However, wearing this artifact for a long time eventually turns the hero into a Ring Wraith, the Slave of the Ring. A hero who worn the Ring for more than five days will lose all his primary skill points, morale, luck and spellpoints if he puts the Ring off. A hero who lived with ring for at least one week cannot live without the Ring anymore; that means, he can't put the ring off, and if another hero takes it from him, he disappears. A hero wearing the Ring for more than two weeks loses his army and becomes a shadow wandering across the lands...

Hey, what about Glamdring?

Considerable would be a balanced foe with this Ultimate Artifact.

SCENARIO ULTIMATE ARTIFACT
Plot: The lands of Atoria[1] were lead by eight lords[2]. For seven of the lords[3], times were cheery until the scouts[4] reported that the eighth lord uncovered the Ultimate Artifact[5] and received madness along with it. His lust for domination is unevitable and he must therefore be stopped.

Notes:
[1] Name inspired by a songtext of Rhapsody, 'Now foolish warrior, hear my words' (Beyond the Gates of Infinity). 'Now foolish warrior' phonetically sounded like 'atori soriolhr', and 'atori' was used but modified to make it sound like a land.
[2] Could be less, depending on the advantages they will be given.
[3] Allied lords.
[4] Boosted heroes with for example Logistics as specialty.
[5] Possibly the only advantage of the lord.

This would ask for a lot of testing by highly experienced players of WoG, either alone or together in multiplayer. Whenever one thinks, 'this is too difficult', additional boosts shold be implented...

It is possible, but count on balancing by getting huge armies, artifacts and allies.

I don't see how this artifact is so overpowered, on the contrary. There are many battle tactics that allow to beat super strong armies. Maybe some sort of anti-magic for opponent or some immunity of own troops to some tricky spells. Still I think it's too much effort involved, maybe simply define your artifact and use the 10 blank artifacts from WoG to assemble in the final one. Make sure those artifacts are well guarded by monsters, scripts, etc,...

As the Ultimate Artifact has exaggeratedly high benefits, the other team should have exaggeratedly many creatures collectible, startoff bonuses for heroes and rewarding places to visit.

Ultimate Artifact

Nice prize for who search for all these items. But the vulnerability must be increased.

Bump. I think this thread deserves to see the light of the first page again. I agree that it would take forever to assemble it and by the time you did get it it would be worthless on a regular map, but that's on a regular map. A campaign about it would be awsome. But yes, the vulnerability days must be increased and I think that stats should actually be decreased during those periods(e.g. the artifact must take some of your energy after a while to recharge itself). Also, leave out the part about lvl 5s and 6s being instantly upgraded to lvl 8, I just don't seem to like that.

ZOMG a LotR campaign?! I've GOT to see that. I'm a LotR fan too, and this sounds awesome. And yes there should definetly be more artifacts like Galamdring and Aragorn's sword(forget the name), the latter of which might be almost equal in power to the One Ring. And isn't 3.58 already out? That would mean we'll have to wait until 3.59, which probably won't come out for about 5 years or so...

I think an Ultimate Artefact would be better if it was good in one and only domain, so that it could be Excellent but not invincible.

I'd like a Infinite ressources and gold Ultimate artefact

and also, an artefact Who give you Unlimited and Ultimate Power, but reduce your movement to 1 by day.

Bump. That sucks... I hope it'll be ready by the time 3.59 comes out (and it should, considering how long it's taking...).
