Hmm I have a slight problem with a 'possible creature'. I assembled a full animation of a creature (just recolor, nothing special), but I don't know how to turn it into a def file.

Defmaker crashes when it starts creating the DEF file, and H3DefTool gives errors.
Can anyone help me?

Yes I can tell.
I fill in all the pictures in the right category.
I tick the checkbox Standard Special Colors.
I set the Def Path.
I check the Help: Tutorial 1 to make sure I forgot nothing.
I click Make Def: Error occurs.

Toegang geweigerd is dutch for 'Access Denied'

Hmmm.... i never tick the stnd sp. colors, so dont tick that.
Have you ticked add to lod(you should) as well as DEF path?
Do you have WoG?

But do I really have to add to lod? I'm not sure which creature to replace when I do that.
Nevertheless I will retry with these new options.

EDIT: Still I get the error.

btw What is the Picture Extension thingy?
In Def Path, do I need to set the path where I want the DEF file to be, or some other path?

You NEED to replace creature, or it wont be in game
Not adding to LOD causes only making DEF file which you must add to LOD to have creature in game. Can you post 1 pic of the creature?
And in DEF path you must save the file with ceature name you want to replace(ex. CABEHE for ancient behemoth) you can save it anywhere.
Be shure to click on tool button not save after that.

I never changed that, but firstly you must find the name, if its in sprite.lod, do as it was, but you should change type from creature to something else.
If its in bitmap.lod, than you must find in lower part of main page of DEF tool a comps icons there save your DEF path and add to bitmap.lod, and click on comp icons after that, not on tool. But be careful, i wanted to change town background and my game was broken.

The adventure map creature is in it's own .def file- with a similar name probably, and the portraits are in two different files. One small, one larger. Changing those takes a bit more effort since they have all the portraits in the game. so you have to extract the pics, replace the one with your new one, and then recompile the def and reinsert it into the game.

My first creature...

Okay, I am a team member for the expansion RotM, and we're going to build the mod from SoD, not wog. So we're creating new WoG creatures, or whatever. Anyways. I tried to help the other team members to create a new ghost (we're going to have a campaign hero for the barrow town campaign who summons ghosts, that's why we're creating a new ghost and we don't want to steal other people's work.. so well here it is)



Haha it is really ugly
