What's "Broken" with WoG?

This topic is dedicated to bringing to light any and all things unbalanced, unfair or just plain unfun about WoG, in the hope that they may be addressed in future updates.

I have a number of scripts which should be included in the 3.58 update which are intended to improve some balance issues that I have noticed. I don't play competetively and use a rather lackadasical playing style so I can't pick up on all of the nuances of multiplayer balance. This is why I'd like to hear from some of the "experts" here, "why does WoG suck, and what can be done about it?"

And remember, just about any WoG improvement/addition can be disabled through the "WoG Options" menu, so if there is something that you don't like you don't have to play with it.

Fishing for compliments, are you?

Well, WoG doesn't suck in any way. It was this fan's wet dream. (I liked Heroes 4, mind you, but it was a new game.)

Like you said, if you don't like some options - turn them off. As for the bugs, there are fewer and fewer of them every day. Some were even funny and I considered them features. A friend of mine always says that WoG is great because it's so real - you never know what will happen next.

Unbalanced things? Like lvl 8's being too cheap? Who cares?

My personal wish is too have oodles of new creatures ( even with old graphics ) which could be upgraded or at least useful ( What can I do with several Nightmares or Lava Sharpshooters?! ). That, and Dark Elves. I DEMAND those.

But that's another topic.

Don't get me wrong, I love WoG too, otherwise I wouldn't devote my time to it. What I love most about it is that it gives me the opportunity to fix things that I don't like. Whatever game that I play, I always see something that can be improved, something that can be changed for the better, that's why I love modding so much. I spend more time modifing games than playing them.

Well I do for one, and there are plenty of others as well. I believe if everything is more balanced out the whole game will benefit. Even those who don't mind things the way they are now, would probably enjoy the better gameplay of a more balanced game, it's an important part of what makes a game fun. Once the novelty of new features wears off it's the solid gameplay that keeps people playing, that's why Homm3 is still kicking after all these years.

Same here, I'm always spending way too much time tinkering with scripts and stuff in WoG than I am playing the game itself. I think I only play one game every 2 weeks now.

But as far as balancing goes, I think things are starting to be more balanced than when ROE came out.

Hmmm...I'm pretty satisfied with WoG so far; just the Ogre Targ change I don't like, but I can't turn it off individually.

WOG needs new graphics in Heroes 3 style, not the pseudo-rendered looking ones.

I DEMAND MORE CREATURE BANKS

Lava Sharpshooters and Arctic Sharpshooters are just plain wack. I don't like 'em. War Zealots are okay I guess...not too fond of them, but they have their uses.

Gorynyches rule flying Chaos Hydras, yay!

I'm wondering if any of the testers of 3.58 have been experiencing a slowdown of the game...if so, I would like to hear what you think it may be. I've come up with a few script related possiblities, but I would like some confirmation from some of the other testers.

Ghost Behemoths.  They are way too easy to get.  On a small map like C&C, Stronghold can have them in the first week while everyone else is struggling to get level 6.  Then it's game over.

I believe that half of what causes this problem is that regular Behemoths are so cheap and easy to get. Stronghold's quick access to L7's combined with the extremely good cost to power ratio of the Ghost Behemoth makes for a lethal situation.

My Enhanced Monsters script has increased the costs of all behemoths (and given them some bonuses as well) to better balance them with other creatures. This will make getting a GB first week much more difficult.
