I liked the idea of the Archive Forum... but it will need certain rules to put a thread there, like a minimum number of pages, and some time inactive.
Edit: Removed the example time... It was just an example, not my opinion of how much time it was need to close a thread, a month, a year... whatever, it is not the poing right now.

to try and get this back on topic.
In 99% of the cases im against an archive forum, simply because i think that you should be able to take part in every thread that you want too.
By closing some threads and making them some kind of monument you also remove the possibility for new posters to take a part of these threads. And IMO something like an inactive month shouldnt be enough to close a thread.
Because some threads (like "please only...") can have a low profile for several weeks sometimes and then all of a sudden they are really popular again.
I think these threads shouldnt be touched at all, because if they are good enough to be on the list for most posted threads they are there for a reason.
So i believe in more freedom for the posters here and let them post whereever they want.
...and since i have a feeling many of you are curious about the last percent...
well, some threads here are discussing at that time a hot subject. But once its over its kinda old news and not interesting anymore.
To name an example of that i can bring up one of the two threads ive made..."you think you know football better than me?". That thread was about WC2002, and for all of you that havent noticed that worldcup was over eleven months ago.
Threads like this i can understand if they get moved to some kind of an archive forum, and i wouldnt mind seeing that thread that i created there...as long as no one of the posters in that thread objects... Because afterall, without them there wouldnt be no competition so they "own" the thread just as much as me.

Yeah, I meant for thread just like WC2002, where the point of discussion is kinda dead.
Obviously, threads today locked, have no place there...still.

mmmm Well, all the people here who are agree with RMS say a lot of things about the why this thread closed... But I don't understand, why???
They don't revise any of this threads to see what happen inside them, and if is a real spam, I remember one thread some about the dragons will dominate the world, this thread was only for increment the post count(totally spam between ghost dragon and divine dragon), but if you see inside the "only naked girls..." "new shop openning..." and the "guess the creature game" and " Temple of Worship..." threads, you can see the most of the post aren't a spam, also "only naked girls..." have the rating of "inspiring" that is because this places are very good places, and tell me why this thread are so long? because this threads was very popular and this places are active... that's mean: the long of the thread doesn't affect to the people who post there...

Ugh, you' re missing the point Medusa.
RMS didn't closed those threads because of possible 'spam' in them. He wouldn't reopen them in new threads.
But in the future, if mods wish to close threads with 'spam', please first point us mortals to what 'spam' exactly is.

What you might concider spam some other person might concider the best conversation ever here.
My point is: Everyone have different opinions here, and by calling threads like those spam you once again like Lich_King did earlier this thread basically say "this conversation sucks because i dont like it."
And once again, how encouriging are that for other posters? Myself i have no problem with it because i couldnt care less what you tossers think of my posts. But i know there are members here who aint as selfconfident as i am and will problably think twice before posting a thread again because even mods might concider it "spam".

RMS, you dropped the ball on this big time.
These threads you locked...they weren't inflammatory. They weren't insulting. They didn't violate the code of conduct.
Those threads you closed had some of the best, freshest, and most interesting writing that HC had to offer. The regulars here saw something in them that you clearly never did.
Their ideas transcended the norm as evidenced by their popularity.
I personally resurrected Temple of Worship because it had such an incredible foundation.
And with your closing them down you have sent probably the loudest 'snow you' statement to us you probably ever could.
So with that being said, here's my reply.
Until such time that you decide to change your mind and reopen the threads that you have arbitrarily closed, I will cease posting @ HC.
If you do not regard the opinions of the people of substance who come here, then they have no use for you either.

RMS DIDN'T CLOSED THE THREADS BECAUSE OF SPAM!!
And Gootch, original threads will probably be reopened, RMS said himself that his plan backfired, and if people are against there'll be change again.
Don't be too hard on him, he didn't had any malicious thoughts while doing it...
Only thing, mods cannot reopen threads, we have to wait for Valeriy...
