fake reporter listings
What we probably will not post is the simple things like each person being deleted for fake reports. That would be a waste even though it is kinda ironic and funny when the instantly email about why their account was deleted. This guys/girls have great gall. Usually only the heavy-hitters get listed for that once they show a good batting average.

Yes... but wouldn't that turn the whole thing into a massive witchhunt? Not all can be calm when they are presenting their side to HC...
That's why I said to get someone who can sift through all the mails and pick those (perhaps slightly edit?) mails that would not harm the prestige of the parties involved...
By editing i mean cutting out some of the offensive paragraphs, not adding anything.

with the anticipated fivefold increase in traffic in TOH, we will need more than deth8 running things with 2 assistants. Ie. we need more manpower. Deth8 would still be 'chairman', but more RELIABLE volunteers would be needed.

HC requirements
To be a member of HC, they must fulfill the following:
-A history of honor in TOH, (best if have honor medal)
-WIll know to be reliable for minimum 6 months, most important volunteer position
-Is not in a controversial position amongst other members
-Deth8 o.k.'s their participation

Fake reporters are usually cought.
Making it harder for fake reporters to register twice may be a good idea. (usually ip shows when registering twice, and some lads are even stupid enough to name themself maneiokial (to not name anybody ) and maneiokial1).
Paying $5-$10 for registering is not a bad idea, since i think most players wonīt mind paying this amount for all the work that is done in toh. However, most players play do this for fun and donīt play for toh on a dayly basis, therefor do not wish to pay the amount and cannot enter toh.
As a second problem there is no way i can pay the amount. I come from Holland and how am i going to pay this? I donīt have a Visa card, American express or one of that kind. So what am i supposed to do? Send it in an envelope?
I donīt think the fake reporting should be stopped that way. There must be different ways to stop it.

Fake Reps Problem
Yeah, I have the same problem as Cheesus in the manner of paying for registration...so, even if that would solve some of the problems, I do not salute your ideea, Evil_boy.
I really can not see a real resolve in the problem of fake reports. Perhaps there could be a link where are listed the players who make too many fake reps, that way the others would be warned...

Probably a really stupid ideea...
Sending the last save of the game along with your game report would end the fake reports.
That seemed to work on Tymeria...
But I guess it would imply extra work too

I would volunteer to look at those saves.
Cheating or fake reporting is the worst, and anything i could do to help preventing that is a good thing.
Yet fake reporting cannot be stopped by sending in saves since you can play a game vs yourself and send in the save of the final of that game. So sending saves would mean a LOT of extra work and not be effective enough to do all the work looking at them.

the ranks
First of all is the rank of plebe. I hate the name as it really sounds like a thick person with no brains. Can it not be change for another name like Novice or Apprentice when Heroes 4 web page is complete. Or in keeping with tradition call it either :
Soldier like in the Roman empire.
or
Warrior like they do in Fantasy or medieval times
Also I have noticed that the ranking of the players reflects that of a military establishement ie Cadet, Colonel, Legionaire etc. This is fine because it reflects the MIGHT side of Heroes.
But what about the MAGIC side of heroes as well. You could have another set of ranks for example. Acolyte, Sorceror, Archmage etc. that would compliment each other.
That way the system would be extactly the same but have MAGIC rankings alongside the MIGHT rankings. After all MAGIC play an important part in the game especially in battle
This was just a idea I had.
The way round this would for players type in the relevant information in the WIN/LOSS reports such as the example below.
(Sorry about copying as this is purely for example purposes only)
LOSER SCORE SUBMISSION (EXAMPLE)
Your Handle/Name (Loser): Grythandril
Your Password ******
Your Opponent (Winner) Handle/Name: DaffyDuck
Map Played: Stuck in the Bog
Hero: Sandro
Detail Final battle between Sandra and Sorsha. Sandro won (barely).
So when a user-name wins a game which ever hero the player used in the map would reflect the ranking systems. So if sandro won or lost it would be a MAGIC ranking because Sandro is necromancer (MAGIC). If it was Clavius which won or lost it would be a MIGHT ranking because Clavius is a Death Knight (MIGHT).
As you know the Might heroes have more Combat, Defense Stats than the Magic heroes which have more Spell Power and Knowledge Stats.
However if the players switch heros at the start of the game it would not matter as long as the information is typed in the reports. eg start with Valeska then at the tavern decide to buy and make Adela is the main hero.
If however through time the players keep switching between different heroes for different games then the ranking system can reflect both e.g.

Name Colin Buick
E-mail Colin@whatever
IQ number
Points 965
Rank Plebe/BattleMage
OR

Again this is just an idea because as I stated earlier it would reflect the true side of Might & Magic for heroes. Of course you know all the stats of the game but this is to explain the system a bit more accurately.
Although this would probably mean extra work for you guys, but to me it would inject more emphasis on the game itself..
When Heroes 4 comes out it might mean that a system similar to the one above could be in operation.
It might make battles more intense for each player or start debates against which hero is better. Who knows?

Add more Ranks
what about adding more ranks to the system for example
STORMLORD
BATTLEMASTER
ARCHON
ASSASSIN
ICE WARRIOR, FIRE WARRIOR, EARTH WARRIOR, AIR WARRIOR
or even linking the ranks from Heroes 3
like KNIGHT, CLERIC, ALCHEMIST ETC.
Although this might cause some serious debates and arguements but it is worth a thought.
But more magic ranks would be good.

Well for 6 months i can be available(finally got net at home).
The rest i have little or no idea about.
About paying to register... Although it might be a nice way to fund toh... it won't be free then would it? Many would not join, most would simply enter other tourneys... The amount matters little, though 10 dollars is a lot to someone from some countries in eastern europe, mine included, or other parts of the world. Once it is no longer free then other players will join, players that want to win for their money...

TO be honest, if there was a realistic way of a making a registration payment that was available to all across the world, a $5 registration fee would not be a big deal. But at this point, technology and 'internet money' do not exist; cash through the net flows via credit cards, and not all have them or even would want to use them!
For now, TOH remains free, and ad free. TOH is my hobby, and like all hobbies, they carry an expense. THough its looking like the programming cost may exceed $3000 for homm4, and $200 a month for server support (due to the massive traffic and webspace requirements).... but we shall see. If $5 was given by every player who registered, that would more than suppport this, but like I said, at this point its unrealstic and not what TOH is supposed to be.

If the term 'plebe' is offensive to some, it could be changed to Novice, or peasant or something lol. But to add more ranks to the current list for homm4:
Plebe Less than 4 games on record
Footman 0-1149 pts
Squire 1149-1299 pts
Baron 1300-1499 pts
Legionnaire (Can control 1 division) 1500-1699 pts
Lord (Can control 1 division) 1700-1899 pts
Overlord (Can control up to 5 divisions) 1900 + pts
I have found that making too many ranks just adds confusion and complexity. The rankings system in homm3 TOH has worked like a charm, and the only difference here in homm4 is the increased promotion requirements, and terminology changes; the number of ranks stay the same.
BTW with the new automation forthcoming, players will be auto-emailed a notice when they get promoted

a couple more ranks?
Adding in one or two more rankings would be nice and I don't think it would detract from rankings status.
It would add more a bit more incentive for players to see themselves move up a little easier giving slightly more incremental increases. Though of course this would only be moving up on the surface since the points would just be more broken out.
There is a saturation point to it though and maybe we have already met it or maybe not. Best to see what people think. Maybe a legitimate poll?

Oh, ya. The email notification is a great thing coming too. Need to have some images or a printable certificate with it or something. I know my father in law loves printing out his conquests from Might and Magic.

Rank Promotion
There should be a battle rank academy that gives and certificate any rank upgrade or rank downgrade.
1.- This academy will exam any promotion making an exam (battle) again the promoted one and any other player (preferible with a higher rank).
2.- The academy will give map, colour, start town and all kind of set that H-4 show in game set.

About pay for control fake reporting, I think ppl care pts so much, that those lamers, that make fake reporting, will pay to have more pts.

Here is a suggestion
What about those who pay a fee start on a slightly higher rank than those who don't pay. I mean that way it could be up to the individual to decide.
Example

Beserker - (those who Pay say $5)

Warrior - (those who don't pay)
It might encourage people to pay and at the say time pay for you guys who have put so much hard work into Heroes 3 and Heroes 4.
