You guys Overreact!!

I read in one of the threads a reply that 3do's community is not as good or active as this one. In my opinion, both communities are nice, but the guys over here have bad reactions to changes which is really bad. You guys prefer to have the same game, with more creatures. That is called an expansion.

On the 3do community message boards, I found this:
**************************************************
Thread:  Someone's H4 Impressions
--------------------------------------------------
Someone (who I shall keep anonymous) on a different Heroes board saw what Maranthea had to say yesterday and said the following:
__________________________
"That's it! They have taken everything that I loved from the game. The many creatures to play with, the upgrades (even if they were redundant!), the great towns are all gone!...............................
{{{they had the whole post}}}

Reply1:  I'm happy with the changes
--------------------------------------------------
The gaming pundits blasted HoMM3 vs. HoMM2 for remaking the same game, except more complicated and darker.
HoMM4 sounds like truely a new version rather than an "extension".

Let's give the developers some credit. Most of them are the same ones who worked on HoMM3 and HoMM2. They aren't going to deliver a dead skunk.

Reply2:  Erm...
---------------------------------------------------
though I DON'T REALLY LIKE the ideas of having no Titans(though i heard there is) and we can only bring about 5 different creatures battling and Heroes dying in battle..
but somethings have to change once in a while...
I admit that Heroes 3 and MM7 was a bit "stale" simply becoz they were more or less like their precessdors except with more advanced gameplay, options and graphics... (though not much a case for MM7)
and people will complain that why iszzit so much alike, it's another "rip-off" by 3d0, so we should see how this game works? I mean it may not turn out to be nice, but there is also a chance (i think it's so much higher than the former) that it will be one of the best game for this and next year...
Juz my thoughts... =)

Reply3:  Ummm...
-----------------------------------------------------
BTW, I don't think it's good to judge a game before it's even out.

Reply4:  Re: Someone's H4 Impressions
-----------------------------------------------------
I totally disagree. It's way too early to tell. No one has demonstrated that the so-called giants won't have shooting capabilities, so that worry seems the silliest. I'm aprehensive about the number of levels still, but a lot of what has been revealed about the game sounds intriguing. I think we have to wait and see. Originally, I was worried about the change in look from 2 to 3, but as soon as I played 3, I understood just what the design team had in mind, and I was hooked.

Reply5:  well
-------------------------------------------------------
I think people who flame the game now are idiots. Let the game come out first! Those people don't know crap about the game and already start spewing their worthless opinions! I am only going to complain and flame if the game is crap when its out.
******************************************************

I really do agree with Reply5, why don't you guys stop acting so negatively. Some of you have been playing Heroes for 6 years and I bet that you loved every second of it. Wait for homm4, play it for at least a week and then decide. The way some of you guys are reacting to the interviews is really bad and sort of insulting to the creators of the game that you enjoyed for years.

I think you guys should make this community a better place for beople to share thoughts and opinions and not to insult anyone. Maybe 3do will then prefer this community over others and your opinion will be taken more, more, and more into consideration.

It would also be nice if some of you stop cursing at 3do and give them some credit that they deserve.

Not all of us are so negative

Greetings, Legend

It's rather reckless to judge all the members in this community taking only the opinions of the exalted younger ones. I've had both nice and bad surprises with the HOMM4 screenshots, but I'm still a loyal fan of the game and I'm anxiously waiting its release. Here is a little briefing of my impressions:

GOOD POINTS:

- All the adventure map looks incredible, and shows  infinite possibilities for a good mapmaker. The tiles are almost invisible, and the ambientation is truly great.

- The battle screen (other point where I feel they have put a big effort) is different, but it could be a very nice change. I suppose they have reduced the number of creatures due to the graphical complexity of 3D animations here (well, and to allow many very well received expansions)

- I have great expectations about the new hero development and capabilities (fighting in battles, resurrecting, etc). I feel this is the most important change in the saga.

BAD POINTS:

- I really expected more towns and creatures (the most decisions I ought to take, the most I enjoy the game), but I don't mind buying expansions if they are well developed. We can have both quantity and quality.

- The most annoying thing to me (and it's a little disadvantage) is town designing. I don't like those regularly placed buildings, which make each town very similar to each other. But anyway I understand that the old townstyle was very difficult to implement with a optional building tree. I also understand that the 3DO boys wanted to make the game more easier to learn for beginners...

So, I see both good and bad points, but that doesn't mean that I want to condemn the game. Not at all. I have plenty of confidence in 3DO design skills, although I sometimes don't like their commercial tactics. I know I'll buy HOMM4 and, that's the final point, I know I'll enjoy it as much as all the precedent HOMM issues.

Not Opposed to Change

We are not opposed to change as much as regression.  Going from 7 levels to 4 is regression. Going from ca. 150 cratures to 60 is regression.  Going from 8 towns to 6 is regression.  These are the only changes being made that I am opposed to.  Everything else I like.

Whenyou say some of us don't want the change, perhaps they are just scared of it. "Change is bad" quoting the hershey's commerical a little bit ago.

Wow!  Say you don't like one thing about Heroes 4 and people presume (is that too big of a word for you?) that you hate everything.  It is also nice to note that people are taking what I am saying out of context (that was part of my post).  So, to show everyone out there that I am more than 2 Dimensional, I am going to list what I hate and like:

CON:
1/ Not enough creatures.
2/ Far too few levels.

PRO:
1/ Love the choose between two creature types idea.
2/ Great new graphics.
3/ More strategy in only 6 towns, adds depth.
4/ Whole new story
5/ New schools of magic
6/ Updated secondary schools
7/ Creature Caravans
8/ Fog of war
9/ Heroes can change types
10/ 3D battlefield...

See?  I love a lot about this game.  I even think that 6 towns is not that bad.  But what do you and a lot of the people on that other board (which I never visit) do?  They insult me on assumptions over a few statements I made!  I really want Heroes 4 to come out!  But I also want more creatures!  That is what attracted me to the game in the first place.  The variety and the surplus of options.  And... oh, wait... THIS IS AN OPINION BOARD!  That's right.  We can stait our opinions here!  If we don't like something, we speak out.  This isn't let's play nice and love 3do because they never make a mistake board!  Every company makes mistakes!  No one is perfect.  Remember the Forge town.  Don't tell me you wanted chainsaw zombies and laser pack goblins in Heroes!  I am just hoping that 3do will realize that a lot of us want more creatures and that they will try to fix it before they release it, like Armageddon's Blade!

Oh... and to the people on the other board who are making these huge assumptions about me...

snow OFF!

Change is my middlename

I love the changes because otherways I know that I will only play until I try all the creatures and then I'll quit. The new style will keep me exploring for much longer. There are many people here who like the change, they just do not should out like those who don't. It might also be a newbie thing where they want to win lots because they are familiar with the game. I think challenge is most important.

I agree!

I really do like change, and I really like a challange.  That's why I liked Azure Dragons so much.  I just don't like the idea of only 4 creature levels.  I can see what 3do is trying to do.  With 4 creature levels and a choice between 2 there are 8 creatures per town instead of 7 like Heroes 3.  I just don't think that 4 levels is enough.  Everything else I am really looking forward to.  Even the only 6 town-types idea.

And I reall hate people that presume anything about me!

I wish H4 comes out on DVD!!!

First I would like to appologize to each and everyone who felt offended, everyone on this community is nice and have nice ideas sharing them with the world!!!

I was really upset when I saw what others think of some opinions posted here and I still believe that "some" overreacted and it was bad reputation for everyone on this community.

As for the changes in H4, according to the number of towns and the "space allocation" for towns I think 3do did their best to have the most creatures with really cool new graphics and no "redundancy".

Maybe it is still early now, but I am sure there will be a heroes 5 and maybe it will be on DVD (a much more bigger game) as for memory who knows what will the minimum be in a couple of years, maybe 1GB RAM minimum per PC. That should be great!!!!!

And as usual, 3do will have expansions for h4 as well and it will have new creatures, maybe 2 new towns with a  lot of more creatures, just for the upset fans.

Right now we all need a new Heroes game and I am sure all the changes are for the better and that might be the best they can to with today's technology.

Sighhhhhhh.........

I really think that anyone who judges an entire board based on a few people's comments need mental help.  Is it wrong to state an opinion?  I want more levels.  I can see how it will work with 4, and I probably will still buy it.  I just like more options, and many creatures add more options.  And if 3do is really trying to dumb down the game for new players: Don't.  The game is selling well as is and that is because we enjoy the challange.  And give people some credit, I think about 80% of the potential buyers out there who haven't played the game yet won't think it is too hard.  They probably just don't want to try it.  (I didn't want to play Diablo until my friend showed it to me.  I didn't think it looked good and didn't want to try it.  Stupid me.)  <-- That's probably how most non-Heroes fans feel.  Advertise.  Don't just make it easier!
