The best five rpgs of all time

Hi everyone, I'd like to place a question for all of the rpg lovers out there, ¿which are the best five rpgs you've ever played?. Here's my list:
1- Lands of Lore, The Throne of Chaos.
2- Diablo 1.
3- M&MVII, For Blood and Honor.
4- Eye of the Beholder 1 and 2.
5- Fallout 1 and 2.

Of course, Lands of Lore and Eye of the Beholder can never be compared to the other three if we talk about graphics, AI or music. But those games will always have a special place in my heart because of their gameplay, story and cute graphics. Besides, the Beholder, Scotia and Dran Draggore are three of the most interesting foes I've seen in rpgs. I will always play new rpgs, and I'm sure that I will love many of them; but the feeling I had when I played The Throne of Chaos or The Legend of Darkmoon, with their great atmosfere and rich stories, will never be repeated. Let me know what you think, bye!

Fallout 1 and 2 are the world's best cRPGs, and nothing's gonna change that!!! Unless there will be an equally good Fallout 3 that is .

I agree with Woock on this one: Fallout is definatly the best, with no competition. As for 4 others, I'd say:

2. Might and Magic 7 (and 8 wasn't bad either)
3. Quest For Glory 1-5
4. Little Big Adventure (not exactly an RPG, but very similar)
5. Diablo 1 and 2

I think there was another thread with the same topic some months ago... anyway:

1. Final Fantasy VIII
2. Final Fantasy VII
3. Final Fantasy VI
4. Chrono Trigger
5. Suikoden 2

It would be very difficult to name a 6th... Might and Magic 4&5(aka World of Xeen - I havent played the newer ones, cant find anywhere here)...Final Fantasy IX, Xenogears, Legend of Zelda for SNES is nice too... there are too many I have played...

Why the 4 Square games are in the top:

Great graphics, sound, but the more important thing in an RPG, a really GREAT storyline. I havent found any other RPG that has a storyline as good as these four have. Xenogears' one is good too, but it is a game that you get tired of playing with some time. If you havent played it yet, you should. Maybe you get bored with the system, but after ending the game, you will be certainly wishing "more, more, more!".

Well i have to say that M&M 7 is the best rpg that i have ever played.
Say Fire_Dragon you 6 & 7 are hard.  Have you ever tried the peasant games for these where you start with pre-selected chars and you start with no skills and no stats.
furthermore you are not allowed to hire NPCs or reload at shops or for ore. That is tough.
If there are any M&M fans who want to try Klaravoyas peasant game then you can go to the 3D0 community in the Might & Magic archives forum and dl from there.
I have noticed that the 3D0 commuity is not running at the moment and i dont know if this is a total shut down due to the situation with 3D0, but anyway i have a copy of the peasant game file for anyone who wants to try it.
Just send me an IM and i will send it to you.

Here are the three best ones in my opinion. I'm not sure what to place into 4th and 5th. Maybe Fallouts or Baldur Gates or some other.

1. Arcanum of Steamworks & Magick Obscura
2. King of Dragon Pass
3. Betrayal At Krondor

i am looking for more RPG games that have 1st person perspective like the M&M series. i cant seem to get on with the ones like Balders Gate and Diablo, i just dont feel the same level of involvement.
So can anyone tell me the names of any 1st person view RPGs?

Replies seem to be computer RPG specific, so here goes:

1. Nethack.  (Hard as balls and infinite replayability.)
2. M&M 1-8 are all good (haven't played 9) but since I have to pick one, M&M 4/5 (I consider this two parts of one game).
3. Ultima V (last one before the graphics budget started taking money away from the plot and gameplay budget)
4. Bards Tale 3 (This was one long ass game.  You really got your moneys worth)
5. Diablo II.  (Yeah, it's really more of an action than roleplay, but it calls itself a roleplay and I cramped my entire arm from playing it all night once, so it must have done something right.)

Edit : And if you consider System Shock to be genuine roleplay, II & I slot in at 2 & 4 respectively.
