Do you mind answering a few questions? In the youtube comments, you said you converted troops from 7 towns - were they all Inferno, or a mix? What levels did you build to for conversion?  Did you use multiple heroes with Pit lords to convert, or primarily in one army? Finally, were most of your farming fights against neutral stacks/battle sites, or were significant chunks against other heroes (maybe AI controlled?)
I ask because in my past attempts at demon farming, I have not done well - I usually misestimate the enemy strength and either take incomplete damage to my sacrificial stack, or excessive damage to my other stacks.  I can probably do better now, but since I am pretty much a single player, I don't completely have the need to.  I'm still curious about what is involved in doing it well, though.

Cool video. Thanks for sharing! Given it takes approx. 5 skeletons pr. demon for skeletons to get the upper hand, I can't help but wonder how many skeletons one could expect to have at that time of the game, under the different possible circumstances (playing necropolis or merely playing with a necropolis hero)?

Got a little carried away there, had a lot of fun writing that though lol.

Anyway about that online game, wtf? under 3 months and all that? was that a random map?

I still don't think demon farming is very good though, also theres the fact that demoniacs suck so the demons aren't even going to be behind a good hero.

Unless that's the rules you play by, you aren't really restricted to use a subpar hero. For example, a barbarian works very well with arch devils.

@kringled: A mix of towns. The more hp from lvl 1 and 2s the better. So ramp is actually the best town you can find. We played 8mm6a (random map) with 6 computer players. So whatever they built i converted. Other towns mostly lvl 1 and 2s. I kept my pit lords in the main army but with town portal and many heroes in use you can do alot with one army. Battles were mostly against neutrals, you can hit your own troops with meteor shower or magogs if nessesary. If you do it against a computer player you gotta be sure he has no towns left or you risk he flees at a bad time.

@OhforfSake: Depends what heroes and arts you get etc. But in most cases you wont have 5 k skells at this point in time. Rather 2-3 k. Its not normal to have this many demons either. But after I got the health combo the numbers went up fast. 4 imps give 1 demon.

Maretti, I watched a video of you against Pit for lm, where his main is necro and he got about 700 skellies. I thought you can't use necro, or something changed?

Thanks for the info.  I can definitely see how the health combo artifact would be an enormous help in generating demons...

Depends what rules you play with. The russians who have the strongest community play with necromanzing allowed, but its not allowed to build the amplifier. On WCL its still not allowed. Personally I prefer it not to be allowed but on richer maps I dont think its a gamebreaker.

Ranger______ 2-9____35%________45%________10%________10%

Demoniacs have one of the worst stat distributions, they share this with Alchemists and Death Knights.

But imho they have one of the best secondary skill tables: high chance for logistics, and I never had any problems getting my favorite set (offense, armorer, logistics, tactics, earth, air)

Looking for a main for the Inferno, I obviously wouldn't take:
alchemist, death knight, knight, ranger
(don't want necro, leadership, archery)

I would rarely take:
Planeswalker (sometimes horrible skills offered)

Barbarians, Beastmasters, Overlords are as always the best, but for Inferno you might as well go with a demoniac, it's not that horrible...

Marius with adv armorer and demon special is a nice main, Pyre with logistics, the guy with sorcery special is one of the best late game magic heroes (if you want one), the pitlord specialist with adv offense is nice as well...

Of course they are beaten by the Crag Hacks and Tazars out there, but that goes for any hero, so it's not an argument for calling them "worst".

So I figured which town types are best to build up a little bit for demon farming. Let's say you have some-what infinite resources from money fights and multiple stone and wood mines. So building a fort, level 3 and level 4 dwellings is not a big problem. The calculations also include upgrading creatures, if that increases their HP. Considering that you build those and also castle, each town will give each week the number of demons (without horde buildings though):

Rampart: 33.1
Castle: 30.1
Fortress: 28.9
Dungeon: ~26
Inferno: 24.5
Stronghold: 23.4
Tower: (too bad because it has non-living creatures, didn't even calculate)

*Ogre magi has too much HP so they only count for 35 HP each, the rest is wasted.
