I think it's safe to say there's a little difference between being silly and being the perpetrator of genocide. The conquistadors were sadists and mass murderers akin to Hitler, not simply a little silly...

I was just suggesting that the actions of the Conquistadors doesn't quite sit on the same level as that of the Americans laughing at french people. I wasn't referring to your post.

I thought of the same thing when typing, and figured that a little spesification was in order.
Actually, some researchers found out that the Aztecs would've exterminated themselves in some 20 years anyway (not that this makes the sacrifice of the slaughter and massacres any better). But their neighbours were, like I said, ok people.
And the Inkas were swell.
Or so I've read...

Did they find a journal of an Aztec Dr. Evil with his plan of world domination by extermination of everyone that wasn't him?
I don't care how big of a civil war was in the works, they wouldn't have "exterminated" themselves, the worst would be a halving of the population. A lot of countries have had Civil wars without exterminating themselves, that is just sill.
Show me a link to this research you're talking about, it would seem it is pure BS, sorry.

I think I read it in this popular sientific magazine... And the reason they would've exterminated themselves, was that they used to sacrifice hundreds of thousands of people or more per year.
Since they'd killed off most of their less powerful neighbours, they'd have to start to sacrifice their own.
I think....
My memory ain't too good, so it's VERY probable that I'm wrong.
