Poll Question:
Liches, skeletal or humanoid ?
Another poll considering Necro units.
As MMH6's Lich was redesigned, would you like to keep the latter appearance or make the Lich become skeletal again ?
To me the Lich being skeletal participated in the cold eeriness of its aura, feeding its dreadfulness, so my vote goes to option 1.

Given the current lore, Skeletal Liches is out of the question.
They gain their Lichdom by consuming Namtaru Venom, which acts effectively as an edible Embalming-agent. So a hypothetical Skeletal Lich cannot consume the Venom, is therefor not preserved and dies.
Yes, there are Sandro and Moander, but neither are Liches. Sandro became what he is by "Messing around with Void-magic", which "undid his flesh". Moander became the way he was by mixing Namtaru and Manticore Venom. So unless Liches en-masse start consuming Manticore Venom as well, or convert to Nethermancers, we'll likely get Mummy-Liches.

I think what you mean is: should lich have flesh and skin, or be skeletal ... coz either way it's humanoid realy 
Well to me skeletal lich sounds right, just because it has classic feel to it, alto i realy don't mind the H6 version much either. he looked like a Zombie Wizard, which is cool ...
What i didn't like in the design was, that it was floating ... or rather hovering above ground. Why? I mean i could get behind that, if it was actualy flyer, which would be cool, but nope, he "walked".

I already posted what I think they should look like. They should screw themselves three times over for coming up with the most ridiculous appearance for a lich, ever. I dont care for whatever lore idea they come up with if they produce such abominations. It looks like an effin grandpa...

Why are skeletal liches out of the question? They were skeletal in Heroes 5. They could just come up with an explanation about why they looked different then.

well War-Overlord, since i have no idea about lore, and you soud like expert (yes even tho i played all Heroes games except for H4, i actualy never payed atention to lore or finished a sigle campaign haha), i would like to ask you then. Isn't H5 based in Ashan aswell? and dosen't it have skeletal liches? ... i belive it does. So how did they came about? I mean Ubi said that this game takes place between H5 and H6 (and i assume H5 was before H6), wouldn't then be possible that liches would become just like in H5?

No, H5 is after H6 in the timeline. The timeline reads, roughly, H6>H7>H5.
Is H5 set in Ashan, in name yes. But since Ashan was barely established at the time, it might as well not have. Since they had yet to come up with just about all of the lore, Nival had creative freedom to do what they want. Which required a lot of retconning since. So the reason why Liches look Skeletal in H5 is: There were no rules and Erwan was not in the position to enforce them if there were.

The whole transition from Heroes 5 Ashan to Heroes 6 Ashan did leave a lot of people confused (including me it seems). But still, if they wanted to, they could reintroduce the Heroes 5 Liches and provide some origin story for them. Another solution would be a void themed Necropolis as others have suggested in the other thread. That way, they could have lost their flesh in a similar way Sandro did. This is way I think it's not entirely out of the question, but maybe I'm just too hopeful.
