That's rather disturbing, please do elaborate.
Why is it disturbing? I had a series of dreams involving Omega, the Mod Squad, and some court cases. Fun times!

I never do, but that's because of one, highly irritating feature of HC: after a while of inactivity after opening the page, it will mark ALL threads as read - including those you haven't yet.
Pisses me off like no tomorrow when I get disrupted somewhere through my HC "scan" and I get sidetracked to other stuff before returning. As a result, once I open the HC page, I quickly scan the threads that I consider interesting and open them in a separate tab in a browser, one tab per thread and after that, read them one by one. After reading the thread in a tab, I close the tab again. That way, even if I end up getting sidetracked, I still know which threads I didn't yet read up.
Besides, that way all posts that are made after opening those tabs will still be flagged as new posts by the time I have finished, open up the HC page again and hit the refresh button in my browser (which resets all the new/updated thread notification markers on the main forum page to show the current state rather than the previous state).
I never use the "who's online" function actually. Or check the list with the recent posts, given how limited that list really is.

Same here. It seems quite pointless when there is no live chat. Besides, a lot of members sign in, post, sign out, so it's not really accurate at all.

This was definitely me a few years ago. I'll still drop in from time to time to check up on you n00bs though. Someone has to keep you all in line.
Side Note: Does anyone other than me actually know the story of Namus? How is it still a thing?

Stevie said: As far as I've observed they're mostly replying from anonymity and log sporadically, it's not quite the same thing.
Why? When I'm in a conversation with them ping ponging replies within moments, they are never displayed as on-line, so, "who's on-line" function is inaccurate to show the current situation, because they are certainly on-line and reading the posts.

They're online as guests, they're not logged in. Have you not posted as a guest before? I'm telling you because I'm probably one of the few to use the Who's Online feature when logged out and can see people writing replies, although their identities are a matter of guess.

I never felt the need to learn such a thing, there was no occasion. The name and password is already there when I want to log in, I just click login and click sign out when I'm done.

So in the over 6k replies you've made over the years you never saw an occasion to eliminate two useless actions out of the equation and post more efficiently not even once? Likely. I mean that's so you it has to be true, lol. It will be interesting to see if you'll stick with that habit or favor the alternative now that you know of it.

And what would that occasion be exactly? Hmmm, out of the blue, let me try to post without logging in although the site asks me to log in because eventually, clicking a button is becoming too much?

just like 4chan, i lurk. i only log in when i want to check for hcm's, edit a post, or change something about my profile/verify changes made to it. i also use the "who's online" feature a lot, so that i can anticipate what's coming, and prepare for it.
lol, most of the time i treat hc like a stealth mission.

That the word "spider" has an expanded meaning to you.
We used to have a user here named lexxan who was so terrified of spiders that whenever bliz posted a pic of a spider in the wastelands he'd make a big deal about it.
I wonder how he took the new directions.
MightyMage said: Side Note: Does anyone other than me actually know the story of Namus? How is it still a thing?
It was before my time and the only active members I remember right now from before my time are: Bliz, Corribus, Elvin, Geny, Kip, Mvass, Mytical and Woock. So given the fact they are all more than likely to be senile by now, I guess the answer is no.

I have a no cookie acceptance tool -or whatever that is- so every time I visit HC and any other forum I am not signed. You can post when not being logged if your password and nick are present in the respective case -which they are by default. After you post, you will still be unlogged, so is not a matter of logging to post then signing out, is automatic and I never really thought about, for me is convenient. But you need to log in if you want to edit.
