Heroes 5 Info
Thanks to Ururam-Tururam's news hunting and translation, he points us to a message on the Polish website Twierdza Smoka (Dragon's Stronghold), where their newsman asked Ubisoft if Heroes V will be late from its previous 3DO publication schedule. The company responded with the following note:
"Unfortunately, yes. We have too much to do, and we are unable to finish the game by May 2004. We work on a number of titles now and most of the workrgoups are busy."
This would indicate that Ubisoft does have plans to release the game, but it is not on their current schedule of development. It would also indicate that their current plan is to develop Heroes V in-house. Celestial Heavens is working hard to establish contacts with Ubisoft, and this response gives us hope that we will hear more from them soon. Three possible reasons:
1. They have some ideas which they consider to be really good.
2. They're trying to prove that they can do an excellent job on their own (earning prestige for Ubisoft).
3. They're too proud, stubborn or stupid to ask the NWC crew for help.
I'm hoping that until they start work at Heroes V they'll find the sense to hire at least JVC

There is no NWC crew left. Most former employees have found jobs elsewhere. Even Jon Van Caneghem seems to have moved to other things. Ubisoft has no other choice than to build a team of its own.
The only proud, stubborn or stupid people are the ones who make uninformed comments...

A few weeks from now, Ubisoft will be holding a press conference to announce what to do with HoMM. Keep checking the news and keep the fingers crossed.
