Volunteers?
Hi.
I'd like to say that I've been reading a lot on this community about the currently MaH leading system. I never said anything as for me the reason that if ya're a women ya can't run things sux
why a woman can't do things? those 2 done it quite well, but , and I stress BUT, I think you gals need some more help there...
look on the updates for tournaments, ima wondering if we wouldn't have had that automatic report system whut would it happen with reg TOH games?
no offense, I do not want nobody to feel sad/not appreciated/guilty for smthn, only thing I want to stress is this : get some volunteers, as I have seen there are some old players, ( who know a lot also ) that would gladly help
please do something about it gals.
I do appreciate a lot youre work, but think, you two need to have time to live youre life too, it's difficult to run everything just having 2 or 3 or 4 persons
get 2/3 even 4 volunteers that have the time, knowledge and will to help and things would be just fine imo.

heh never that tought martigan.
and it's quite simple why I wouldn't ever think about doing such thing : I've never done smthn like that before tough I have some basics on how and with what to do that.. ( programming, etc )
and 2nd : ima dont have the time to do it
and 3rd : I dont even have a personal pc to be able to stay at home and try to do it
and btw, haven't spoted ure ass on the zone at all
ya're afraid to play clan games?

Well first of all Wanderer, we DO have the automation so we don't need to deal in what if's. IF we didn't have the automation we would likely have more volunteers. I HAVE ran a successful tournament without automation in the past. It's tedious and takes a lot of organization and work, but it can be done.
As for updates for tournaments, sometimes things can not be avoided. Clans for instance. I was gone for 3 Days so could not do updates. I am back now and they are now done. I announced right on the index news that I would be gone and that updates would not be done until I returned. Can't get much more upfront then that.
Another issue is that most people are like you, they would like to see things done in a more timely fashion, but they aren't willing to do them themselves. Another issue is that I tend to be EXTREMELY organized, all of my clan games go from the reports in my email (which I keep ALL of) onto paper and into a database. So, the biggest problem I have is finding a volunteer that has the time to help, has Dreamweaver, which is a must, and has MS Works to use the database. Then there is the issue of it having to be someone that can understand the database. Which is more of a challenge then you would think. Why the database you ask? Because it's too easy to make mistakes and the database gives me a way to look back and check to be sure that I have things done correctly. There is also the issue of getting reports to more then one person at a time, how to know who has updated which reports and who is working on what page, when. It's not nearly as easy as you may think. Anyone that has ever worked with another person on anything knows what I mean. And the other issue with volunteers is reliability. I can't even count how many times people have offered to help me, or in the past Ves to work on a tournament and then have found that they just don't have the time.
As for being afraid that the volunteers would take over. I have NO FEAR there. Most days I would give the job away to just about anyone. It's more or less a VERY high stress job with very little in the way of rewards and even fewer thanks. You jump through hoops to try and make everyone happy, but everyone is different so there are always people with complaints. You give them what you thought they wanted, only to find out they wanted something else. It's never ending.

Ravyn , you got my point wrong I guess...
I haven't said it's easy to do what you do, also I've said that you have my full consideration for what you do. On the other hand, think if you were in my place, it's normal that not only me , but ALL of us would like to have those updates as soon as possible, it's something normal hon, ya would want that too, it's just normal.
I have read that you will be gone, exactlly for that was why I said that we'd need some volunteers, to "fill in those dead days"
anyway, I didn't expected that my thread to look like a bad thing, was just a way of seeing things, and I thought I'd be constructive too, remember I've said you all have a life to live too, youre lifes are NOT only Toheroes.com with its updates and stuffs.
