Guide for new H4 on-line players v1.1
Guide for new H4 on-line players
Now when i see the wave of new H4 players in GS and even Bargainmon can't help them all  , i decided to make this topic. I know there is Eivol's similar topic but since Eivol is not on-line (at least i think so) and hes topic needs some modifications i decided to make my own.
So there
***What's TOH?
TOH - on-line free Tournament of Honour

Lots of players in GameSpy playing in this tournament so why don't YOU try?
***Wich version do i need to play on-line?
You need at least version 3.0 but remember that your and your opponents versions must be the same
***How do i know what version i have?
Right click on h4.exe in your Heroes instalation folder and pick properties->version
If you got expansions Wings of War your version is 3.0
***Where do i get patches to upgrade my game to 3.0?
If you got standart unpatched game you need to upgrade it step by step:
1.0->1.2
1.2->1.3
1.3->2.0
2.0->2.2
2.2->3.0
you can find some of patches here

or you go stright to 3.51 mod
***What's 3.51 mod?
3.51 mod is balance mod for on-line games
most of TOH players play 3.51 mod now
***Where do i get 3.51 mod
First of all you need to read carefully FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) here before you start downloading files

then you go to downloads page and get to work
Last thing: change the GameSpy path to h4mod.exe in GS options:
GameSpy->Options->Games->Browse-> select h4mod.exe from heroes installation folder

i read this thread hoping to find out "what town is the best". unfortunatelly , after reading it entirelly and very careful , i'm still confused.
maybe i should wait for guide v1.2 ?!

well teach, FYI every town is good when there's external tavern near it to buy barb and lots of immo

Can you add just a little more info so that your guide be suitable for even a complete noobie in h4 online gaming like I am.
Gamespy - what is it, where to get it, how to use it?

once you have it installed,just enter the heroes 4 room (available rooms will be to left of gamespy screen) and ask in there.if nobody else helps you,i guarentee "bargainmon" will.he is very helpful

But the other dude was asking for more detail! Plus it means the noob isn't going to ask "don't you have to pay for gamespy" and "how do you chat in game" and other annoying questions.
