Leveling/Advancing

I was wondering if there is a way to revamp the experience system for creatures in WoG. Have the creatures be able to upgrade, instead of just gaining new abilities. It would be good for the RPG type maps. You start out with a basic unit, and it can just evolve/level/age into a new creature.

For example, You have a stack of peasants. They stay alive through several battles, and help out as much as possible. Say you have around 50 peasants. 10 of them can evolve into a new creature, free of cost.  You choose the pathway, depending on the hero.

if your heroes a knight, then it can evolve into either a pikeman or an archer, then further into a Swordsman or marksman. Then the final step could be a Cavalier or a Sharpshooter.

If its a necromancer, you can choose to evolve the peasant into a Skeleton, and it will advance through the ranks of the undead. (Although I'm not quite sure how the transition from skeleton to zombie will work out...)

that's a brilliant idea, it would give the game another taste. i like the way peasants change depending on hero's alignment. i'd propose, if the hero is good, the last upgrade could be Archangel, and if the hero is evil, the last upgrade could be Archdevil. ya'now, like, their goodness or hatred takes them to another level.

another thing i was thinking is something based on KOTOR and Fable games, like the portrait of hero changes. imagine during the campaign your recommanded hero is good, and if you do good stuff you get lightness points and when you reach a certain level, an angel ring appears on hero's head . or if you do bad stuff you get darkness points and your hero's face starts to look like demon.

Ahh I dont think it would be possible to change RACE now. A human an a Angel/Devil are completly different.

And moreover, if you have something like a cleric/wizard they could become a Monk/Mage

thx gortex

why not add a class feature like the one in Neverwinter Nights, your hero can have more than a certain class type, say maximum of three. each class could have its own advanteges or something.
