ICTC: The Hive
No one wants to be the first in the contest?
OK, then let me go!
At the beginning I disclose the very basic data about the town:
Town name: THE HIVE
Race name: THE INSECTOIDS
Hero type: BEY
Colors: Black and yellow.
Simple emblem: A crescent and two thorns
Heraldic emblem: A simplified insect head (black on a yellow shield).
Flag: Olive green with the heraldic emblem in the canton (upper left corner)

Worship: The insectoids are agnostic - they ignore the Primordial Dragons.
Philosophy: "Society is everything".
Country/kingdom: the wastelands of Sherrshen
Capital city: Ossah, the Mother Hive
Simple symbol: Crescent and two thorns.
Heraldic emblem: A simplified head of an insect (black on a yellow shield).
Flag: Different color for each hive with the heraldic emblem in the canton (upper left corner)
Aligned hero: Bey (human race).

Origins: The insectoids weren't planned to populate the world. They have evolved from mindless insect by chance (as some say), by the laws of nature (as other say),

Wasp
Locust
Scarab
etc...
A town I would like to design myself if you haven't taken the name. The possibilities are amazing.

Problem is they need some humanoid speaking creatures since there ain't heroes or a story to it if you play them. Though they are a nice opponent.
What about a neutral town, of sort of?

That's how the Polish word "szerszeń" (or szerszen, if you can't see the ń properly) is pronounced, and it means hornet.

Well, no mystery that Sherrshen and Ossah come from two Polish words, nevertheless they sound good enough and are chosen for their sounding.

518 - 555 YSD: Under the influence of Ossah subsequent hives become conscious beings. Ossah slowly discoveres herself as a two-level being, different from most other ones.
555 YSD: A lone warlock Kha-Khay arrives to the Sherrshen wastelands. For the first time the Insectoids meet a intelligent one-level being. Kha-Khay and Ossah became fascinated with each other. 900-930 YSD: The whole wasteland of Sherrshen is under the influence of the hives. Ossah decides to revive the expansion plans. The hives start hiring heroes as the Beys. Subsequently human beings start living in hives - treated there as symbionts (much like "good" microbes in a human body).
949 YSD: The first appearance of cocroach riders. First attacks on nearby terrains. Other races Have a proof of the existence of the Insectoids.

They aren't too large, but their stings are deadly! They fly with blinding speed and their poisonous bite reduces attack strength of any living creature. Their carapaces are rather weak so a wise commander would not let them be exposed to enemy attacks. Diving hornets attack twice dealing the second blow after the enemy retaliation.
They live in strange nests build in rocky cracks.

It should be Rhinoceros Beetle to make some sense.
But this name is rather crude and *very* long.
And how to name "upgraded" version of it?
Battle Rhinoceros Beetle?
I would call this unit Giant Beetle or something like that.

Well, it's a biological name of a large beetle... In fact unfortunately it is also a name of another animal.
Well, a thing to change. So what could be a one-word (!) name of a giant and heavy-armored beetle not to be mixed with another creatures?
