How to restrict long battles?
He-he as I know htey can happen even in homm2, when i fly with sprites, and kill golems with magic arrow.
Or block passage to archers on map divided with row at middle making slow units move one way then another.
So, we know, that Nival's developer can be discussed, and hope that 2-nd add-on is come too.
Ways is different and many:
1) Effect on units. Lover morale/initiaitve(for necros). Going Berserk (Good for neutrals too)
2) Limited number of physical attaks.
3) Mana burn.
4) Penalty to moves on global map.
E.t.c.
Also i wander what battle can be called long, because i managed to kill bear 30 golems with 30 sprites and Wingaal 3-rd lvl with dead eye shot in 7 turns. And not remeber many battles that longer than 15 turns. (got situeation, when fought 18 Deep hydras with 1 cerbery and meteor shower)
We remember action, that increased battle field, so i hope developers can hear us.
Anyway if they can't, we can use our thouhts to aid modders.

He-he, but in Teach's tread appeared many people that dislike it...
And they say nothing about how restrict them, exept approvial timed battles we have.
I seem physicaly slow and interface here is not so frendly as in Homm 2/3 (Need rotate battlefield for some actions) so that restriction is good for me, as it increased number of opponents and make game sharper.

sim turns partially solved the "waiting-w/o-doing-anything" this is painful, no the other's turn itself.
and if u got to enter some common area, that means confruntation is closed and those long turns wont be to numerous
have a nice day
P.S. ghast ill be waiting for u in dueblo for any shield u want to lose

turn timers take care of all the long waits completely for long battels and work well with sim turns.

I DISLIKE THAT WAY!!! If my clicking skill (or computer is not wery fast) slower than my opponent's (seems it can be up to 2 times vs RTS profy) it wery penaltize me. I prefer play in thinking and risking game, but not in click-click-clik, but when click-click-click is nessesary i will use it.

I agree with U one that one Ghasteater....
I've played several battles now..... Some with timer and some without
after all I like the no time limit the most cause
when I play with timer on (5 min or so). If I start with a "semi" long battle on my turn lets say 3-5 min then my turn is over and then I missed the building thing and moment of other heroes.... I really hate that so IMO timer limit doe'snt tell how good U are only how quick U are....

Totally agree - and in addition to this you can "win" by picking "Autocombatfriendly" faction, as you can use autocombat much more as e.g. Haven than Dungeon, Inferno or Necro.
I`ve tried to play inferno a couple of times now, and (without deleb of course) the first week or so, till you get shooters, is just so terribly slow. You have no real damagedealers, some gated imps and demons, and you basicly have to use 5 min to take down 50-60 zombies or demons.
Then you may argue - well just wait - but that aint so easy when all the other factions can feast on zombies first day.

I simply don't see the fun here -- you wanna beat 50-60 zombies like "others" do. Fine, why don't Nival (or yourself) just modify the maps and put "treasure chests" or Dolmens of Knowledge for each neutral? Right?
Terribly slow: my favourite style of play, you see real potential of Inferno and big armies then (Deleb is not "inferno", just a normal hero that is available to inferno and happens to have normal war machines; inferno means troops, town, design and abilities; anyway, you think that by using deleb is an art and no newbie can use it, since it's such a powerful and good strategic tactic and military secret ). I know you "rip" neutrals apart with first aid tent, however if you continue to see only this edge then of course other methods will seem terribly slow.

Haven has some problems with Zombies... especially if Ellaine is at the Tavern
