"Why, practicing for Contests of course, as any proper trainer would." This last spoken as though stating irrefutable fact. "But little Galileo has not been making the progress I'd like." She frowns down at the Pompuff, and the puppy flattens his ears looking small and unhappy. Then Elder Rashel sighs, crouching down and patting him. "It isn't the poor creature's fault, in fairness. I've haven't had the time to dedicate to his training that I would, in peacetime."

Mark and Mina:
"Yes, let's do that." If nothing else it would be a relief to get out of the heat.
Mina checked around to make sure they weren't leaving or forgetting anything, then ((assuming Mark has nothing further to add)) started making her way back to town to locate the Ranger.

The pair of you return to town. Asking at the Pokemon Center reveals there isn't a Ranger Station in Ceris (apparently they use the Pokemon Center itself for lodging and there's a recharger in the back for the Stylers), but the Nurse is able to provide you both with Ranger Wain's number (after a suspicious look that says she's wondering what kind of trouble this set of trainers is planning to get into next, and whether or not she ought to say anything).
Once the Nurse is busied elsewhere, Mina double-checks the number in her Pokedex before turning to Mark.
"Okay, we're covered there. If you want I'll do some online searching here and you can meet me back here in, say, an hour? If you've got anything you want to do in the mean time."

((alright, because THIS NEEDS MOAR POSTS, I'ma stop in here quick...))
And with that, it was off to the local ranger station with them! Mark send out his tailow and kirlia, letting the two follow around with them so that they were able to get some fresh air... and also so that he could teleport if necessary, because that was so very useful.

You leave Mina to her research and take off to find the Ranger with your Pokemon. ((No Ranger Station in Ceris.)) You locate him inside the bar, questioning the bartender. As it's about 3:30 in the afternoon, most of the patrons have cleared out, barring a trainer in a far corner with a drink and the wait staff. Even the battle ring is quiet.

And some of my people have told me they've been lurking in the Shatterhigh Mountains too; probably for some plot or other. Come to that if you go traipsing around anywhere in their territory you're sure to stumble across something; nothing they do is good news for the rest of us.
Whatever you decide to do, you'd do best to find others who share your interest, and not go off by yourself." Elder Rashel frowns harder, but again, not at you. "The Starlight Squad might have been your best bet, but they were mostly destroyed at Kieda and Ternai Town; what's left of them are split between Lijan here in town, and Sesh over near Skybreak if you want to hassle them anyway. Or you could ask the trainers around town for help, though I won't make any guarantees as to their allegiance or their skill. And speaking of Keida and Ternai; I wouldn't head in that direction unless you have a deathwish or a small army behind you."

Poking his head inside of the bar, mark would notice the ranger and then step back, twiddling his thumbs a bit while he nervously waits for the -somewhat intimidating looking (to Mark at least)- ranger to be done with his conversation. However, after a few minutes the boy would sigh, roll his shoulders and then enter! And then he would sit in a chair as close to the door as possible, obviously uncomfortable with being in here again to an almost painful degree.

Jack ran outside, and looked around. Outside of the houses, there are few locations he had not already been to as of yet. The bar seemed the next location he should journey to. There might be help within. He ran over that way.

Mark:
One of the bored-looking wait staff comes over to bring you some water and take your order if you have one. The bartender and the Ranger remain in conversation, the Ranger scribbling notes from time to time. As the bar is mostly deserted, you're able to hear most of their conversation:
"And who was on staff after ten this morning?"
"Tracey, Melissa, and Hyrais. And Rain, but Rain was cleaning the restrooms." The bartender seems mostly confused, the Ranger serious but professional.
"Mm-hmm, and who was had access to the bar?"
The first part of the response is lost in the sound of cupboards opening, but then you hear "...have the transactions for the entire afternoon right here," and the bartender produces a skewer of sorts on which a large number of receipts are impaled.
"Mm-hmm, and you're sure no one else had access to the alcohol? Did you or your staff see anyone share their drinks?"
After about an hour of this, a boy with light blue hair and green eyes runs in, startling one of the wait staff.

You enter the bar at speed, badly startling one of the wait staff by the entrance; it's about 4:30PM. Business is slowly picking up, and a small number of people are now enjoying food and/or drinks. A boy with a prosthetic arm notices your hasty entrance, but most of the patrons pay you no mind. At the bar, a Ranger is talking to the barkeep.
The waitress you startled asks you if you need anything.
((You're now both in the same time zone.  ))

Mark orders a lemonade, mostly to be polite, and resumes listening in. ... Odd, there was alcohol missing now? Had the bar been robbed while he was away? That was a little... well, interesting, and perhaps he might have an idea of who did it. Or at least, who would know who did it. Still waiting for the ranger to finish talking with the bar tender, Mark would start a bit as this new boy suddenly bursts into the room, and after spilling a bit of his water on the table (something he made a mental note to apologize to the waitress for) the young man would ask Jack, "Sheesh, are you trying to give us heart attacks?"
Of course, since Mark seems to be the only one who reacted, he must be using the royal "us" in this case.

I don't know why. I just came here because I haven't been here yet, and the Elder said I should find some people to help out in going against that Bandra group. So I came here to see if I could." Jack scans the room. "But I don't really know who to even start with asking."

The waitress brings you your drinks in short order.
((-350 PD for the Lemonade and -300 PD for the Juice and they're added to your inventories. I'm house-ruling for the Berry Juice; Bulbapedia has it listed at 1500 PD which is ridiculous given that the ingredients are FREE.))

Looking at the kid in front of him (not that Mark was exactly one to judge someone by their age), Mark would tilt his head and ask, "Wait... do you know someone by the name of Mina, by chance?" It seemed like a harmless enough question.

"Huh... well then perhaps you two should meet, since we're both sort of working together against Bandra. At least... we're usually working against Bandra. Currently trying to put an end to a pokemon smuggling... er... that is, um... you wouldn't happen to know anything a-about pokemon thieves o-or smuggling in the area, would you?" Mark asked, just thinking now that this kid might be one of the smuggler's operatives. Not that his completely botched recovery would help in any way solve the problem if that were the case.
