Yep Wiggy, this is the main reason I don't like tower that much . Way too much resources needed and even if it has good troops it has a very low avarage speed . Usually when I play it and the other has more faster troops , he casts mass haste and there goes my tower advantage - shooters :|.

hmmmm ... if that's the case ... then tower is best for the map giant wars ... by far!

it is the richest ToH map I have ever seen yet (I've played about 39 ToH maps).

On that map, gold is a small concern, and so is experience ... (if you have a good or neutral hero) because there's also TONS of artifacts to sacrifice.

you must be very smart with ur money

i am always running out of cash or runnin to the trade post to get more CASH normally i depend on my topia for my final bit of cash flow before headin to middle.

and i always take cash from chests unless my main hero is an evil hero and there is a alter of sacrifice on the map then i take exp

mix it up

Depends on alot of dif things. Of course on normal level usually it will be cash, but in ToH games time is precious since final battle often in week 2 or 3 most cases. SO your main hero can't waste time running after chests- if there is a chest near where it's 1500 experience then maybe I would use that instead of cash, but I really hardly ever take a chest with my main hero, even those few steps can get him sidetracked so he isn't where he needs to be on time. The scouts of couse all take cash unless I planning on making a H&R or scholar.

The only exception is on some smaller medium type ToH Maps such as BfH. If you get a level 10 hero by week 2 and also you can hit up enough gold on that map to buy all troops 1-6 by week 2 and attack with level 10 hero and the Library bonus it can really be good.

A few other maps this is effective even without the library. Giving up the level 7's which soak up much gold and going with 1-6 but having higher stats to boost those lower troops you can many times surprise the guy planning for a week 3 battle.

Giant War may well be the richest toh map...

And I agree that tower is not a disappointment on this map.
In fact if given a choice between tower and a few other towns I would probably chose tower.

But te thing about the money and resources is that I can't think of another toh map that literally forces to do the infamous 'double build' or sometimes triple build..



you don't build that second town to the maximum by end of week2 your probably in trouble..

Money however is very precious on this map.. what with the extra unit production, weekly and the second town. You are looking at massive massive amounts of creature cost.

Giant war is one of the few maps that I hope and pray for a 5 black topia.. not for the relics.. but the gold Without it your towns will never be "bought Out" .  Resources I agree are plentiful.

My first game there I tried to build 3 ramparts what a horrible mistake. I think I won in the end but that was expensive and a race for gold whole game.

Hehee, dunno what ur all talking about, my main never takes chest except if Im in Dire Straits moneywise, and at those points my main offcourse takes money.
A good game for me consist of 4-5 heroes chaining killing all them critters, 1-2 heroes picking up all the sheit they live behind, and 2 heroes scouting. Guess I havent taken experience in a long time. Cept the few times somebody talked me into playing Hourglass, on that map its sometimes good taking a few experience with main to get exp log sooner

Yeah Destro, thats right. Scholar heroes always gets the xp At least in week 2 when them angels are secure

But usually I try to let them fight their way to that level 5 (4 if u are lucky ). But not always possible.

Ouch missed the whole Giant War discussion. Well on that map its imperative to build both towns week 1 imho. Offcourse I just played it twice, but both times I did manage to get angels in both town week 1. This offcourse can only be done if u only take money.
Actually Ive played castle alot lately, and u can only get angels week 1 if u only take money. No other way to go

hmmm experience or cash ... ?

I usually go for experience.

well, this is what I usually buy ...

I always get dungeon, with Malekilith as starting hero.

day 1 - build mage guild.  I like to have all heroes (1-3 heroes) have some spells
day 2 - build scholar academy.  Experienced heroes are good.
day 3 - build mage guild lvl 2.  to have good spells like lightning.
day 4 - build mana vortex.  double spell points with malekilith means more lightning bolts.
day 5 - build town hall.  because gold is good.
day 6 - build pillar of eyes.
day 7 - build citadel.

day 8 - build upg. harpy loft.  harpy hags are good.

at this time, I can buy ALL my creatures, so that I can get experience from chests.  Because I don't need any more gold, because I start to build my capitol.

Besides, with Malekilith, experience means more sorcery, which means bigger lightning.

Never take experience (unleess you desperately need 1000 points for Advanced Earth or Advanced Scholar).

GOLD IS EXPENDIBLE!!

I'd rather have strength, than gold, which come's so disposable everyday according to how well you play.
Buy creature's, After everything's built. A weak force can take you along way, by the time your getting 4000 a day, plus a few other 2000's, and a couple of heroes standing around with "+250 a day", the enemy would be lost lost lost, cuz He, burnt it all up in the beggining.
Money isn't everything.

Um, solymar has chain lightning as a specialty...

It depends, but...

...I reckon it's best to go for cash in most cases, especially in the beginning. The money from chests can really get you a major boost. After you've built a capitol you can also afford to take experience, but keep an eye on those external dwellings if any. Naturally, this is meant for expert and impossible difficulty only.

I will take the cash in chests with the choice of 500 XP or 1000 gold, Because the amount of XP in those chests, Is only half from the amount of the gold, I will take XP in chests with the choice of 1500 XP or 2000 gold, because the amount of XP in those chests, Is three quarters from the amount of the gold
