Watch out for veterans...
Doesn't matter the rankings so much if you played this game since season 1 of ToH or even never were in ToH, but played since game was released. At a certain point the ranks only reflect the amount of games played, not the skill level...
There are some players out there probably in top 10, surely in top 20 would be anyway of ToH if they played more games. Just wait till you meet some of them by accident since they might be footmen still from not playing many ToH games! =)

Don't get me wrong here, I don't mind losing, it is very fun to play others. I just am afraid somebody might get disapointed if they play me expecting a decent game. I am getting better already, but still have a long way to go. I am also pretty sure that many of the things I have learned will help when I am playing solo as well. In fact, I have seen some of this already. The #1 biggest thing, is I have never hired enough heroes, single or multi. (Might give me an advantage in H4 though, I am used to having one hero  )
As far as the Astralwizard site, I am pretty sure I have been there and checked out the tips, but it is possible they assume I have much more knowledge already than I do, and so didn't teach me some of the basics.
My first multi game, I hired 3 heroes the first week. Didn't want to waste my gold on heroes w/o armies 
Ah well, I go back to playing the first week on some TOH maps solo now, try to get a better feel for it.

I didn't refer you to the tips page - what's on the Learning Stone is a series of Articles. Actually, I prefer Xanadu for some things (the Dirty Tricks compendium is quite an interesting read, and - what's worse - some of those tricks are still usable in H3 :-) ) but I learned a bit from the Beginner's Manual for H3 and the 'Adventuring' Guide.

TOH maps usually have extremely plentiful resources, yes? So many people have referred to week 1 builds of L7 creatures - I'm used to maps where a week 2 build of the Portal of Glory (for example) is an achievement.

H4 players also use more than one hero.the difference is they have 4 or even 5 in the same stack.

Hello...i need help, i want to start playing h3 online and i am completely noob..ive never played online be4...but i have played a lot of singelplayer...what am i going to do to start play...where do i find players and so on?...i have regisred myself at www.toheroes.com
Whats next, when can i start playign matches?

hello again...im still a litle confused...now i fixed all the settings and want to play matches etc...what am i going to do now..ive tryed to go trought the zone heroes of might and magic but i dont got a new window opened when i click on it...and where do i find player to play against?

Just join the Microsoft Game Zone, get an account there, look for "CD-Rom" games, then search for Heroes on the list.
