A Few Stupid Questions
I have some minor questions which I have been thinking about...
1. Why in yggdrassil does people still use PM and AM? I dont understand that system. Please explain the system and why in the jötun people use it?
Its soooo much easier with 00.00-23.59 then the stupid AM/PM/LolM mess. In the rest of the world, you dont learn PM in schools. You use the logical and not confusing system.
2. Why does people in the US refer there country as America? America IS NOT a country. Its selfish for them to call their entire country america, when America includes several different countries other then the US.
3. Similar to question one. Why do you use yards? Its very annoying when I play my MMO game that it says "Bla bla bla, Fires of an Arcane Shot dealing 800 damage, 40 yard range".
I dont get why you use yards, feet etc. That is SO Year. 1500!!! Common, start getting modern and use CM, DM, M, MM like everybody else!!! I dont get to learn yards in school either.
And with if one foot is longer then another guys foot!?
The countries using this are weird and ancient.
Vote for Xerox World President 09 so the world makes sense again lolzzzzzz.
(xerox will also force everybody to work at blizzard under slave conditions just so he can get more wow expansions for free!!!!11)

LOL have you been drinking? What are you going to propose next, that we all speak swedish? Just because you are used to something, or the entire Europe is used to something (Europe is a smaller continent than USA btw), doesn't mean everyone should.
Although I do hate the yard-feet-whatever system as well instead of the metric one, I'm not going to be a smartass and say it's wrong -- that would be like me saying that any language I don't know is bad just because I am not used to it.
And I like AM and PM. It's easier to imagine on the analog clock you know?

1. The AM/PM system makes it easier to imagine the time on the clock.
2. Because it's the United States of America? Maybe when they say America it's just a shortenage of USA.
3. I have no idea, and to be honest I found those units weird as well... everything started from the inch which is 2.54 centimeters if I remember correctly (why 2.54? )
1 feet = 12 inches
1 yard = 3 feet or 36 inches

Why not the other way around? Let me put this differently. A cm (centimeter) is 0.394 inches. So the centimeter is the weird one see?
Who says that the metric system is the one that is "divine" or something?

Divine? No. Convenient? Certainly.
About AM/PM: I don't have any problem with it, but I find it amusing how Statesfolk (so as to not invoke Xerox's wrath by using the dreaded A-word) refer to the 24h version "military time".

As regards 1 and 3, you're exactly right. It's a combination of having to get used to something new and "DEM'S NOT TAKIN MAH CULCHUR!"
As for 2, it's because "America" is shorter than "The United States of America" and just sounds better than "the US".

1-that is stupid and makes no sense!
3-US is slowely changing to the Metric system(1,10,100...)and not those yards and all.
FOOT was made by some king in England,(he measured his foot size),and even England managed to change it to normal metric system but not US,so far.

The idea of an uniform measuring system is adapted by the international "SI" organization, but some contries benefit from one units, and other countries - from others. For example, all Europe uses the meters as main metrical units for lenght, but only UK uses the inches instead.

But on the other hand you have United Arab Emirates, the shorthand for which is not Arabia, Arabland or Arabtopia, but Emirates.

1. Because it's easier than 24 hour clock. Maybe if actually made a 24 hour clock...
Mostly people just use 12 hour clock while speaking without any am/pm thing. Everyone understand what you mean by five and eight from context anyways.
2. united states of america
3.In USA and britain mostly because they just can't get accustomed to the new ones. And because they're a bunch of no good morons who want to stand out.
Used often in games, books and movies because it creates a more authentic atmosphere.
Now here's a good one:
What god damned idea it is to daylight saving? It makes no sense! There's no use to it and it only messes up people's bio-clocks twice a year.

Actually, the short form that I've heard is "UAE". But it doesn't come up in conversation as often as America does.

I constantly use the foot/inch system myself, indeed because I'm not used to the metric system and it's not imposed on us (a few years ago, miles instead of kilometres were the official units of distance here).
It's like trying to get an entire country to switch languages or something. You can't expect people to master the change overnight. You know, when we (Europe) converted from pounds to euros I still continually used the word pound out of habit for years, and then switched to "quid" (universal term for money over here)
For the record, I don't particularly want to stand out and I'm not so sure I'm a moron yet.

have u noticed now on almost any bottle(soft drink,milk)or food u have the mass(volume) written in both systems---->means that US is taking slow steps toward metricity.

1) I use the most efficient system, which is the twenty-four hour clock. Not all us Americans (well, loosley used as living in the US) are derived from mediocrity.
2) The United States was the first country named America, after Amerigo Vespucci. Since those interdependent socialists require a homefigure, they call the mainland "America."
3) The Metric System is slowly being inforced more than that of whatever the hell the other system is. System Internationale is a much more efficient way of measurement...But since when does the Government listen to the people. Ha. Personally, I can use both with equal proficiency, but most often refer to the good ole meter.
