Week 3, Day 3

On this day which brought nothing worth mentioning but a group of Iron Golems that wished to follow Orrin's army, Loynis suddenly got an outstanding idea.
Because he was not so known in the lands of Erathia yet, thieves would never recognize him. Whilest going undercover, he entered their den and gathered very useful information about the enemies of the Allied. He wrote it down and attached two copies to pigeons, ready to send it to the allies Zydar and Tazar.
Also he attached a question to it: 'Is it needed for you that we send you some Wood and Ore? We have plenty.' He contently watched the birds fly away...
(the information)

@ Skeleton_King: Good luck with that garrison! You can get some more experience in your way before you attack those Marksmen... You may want to obtain Expert Air and mass Haste before that battle.

@ Ayreon: Thanks for the offer, but I don't think I'll need any... See below hehehe:

Week 3, Day 3

When Tazar's Gnolls had finally caught the homing pigeon, he gloated over the message: "Ha! I already knew I was the best!" But even the boastful beastmaster realized there were tough battles ahead, so he ordered all the resources exchanged for gold and all the creatures recruited and sent to him. In the evening, while his troops were enjoying a long deserved rest from the forced march, Tazar sent the reply to Orrin and forwarded the same note to Zydar: "One of my scouts named Malekith has discovered that the Behemoths' lair is protected by many gates... Please start searching for keymasters' tents in your kingdoms!" Needless to say, his commander actually wrote it, because Tazar was illiterate.

Week 3, Day 4

The Battle of the Sulfur Mine was a fact. Orrin had to face lots of Lizardmen and Lizard Warriors in order to make this mine his own. Even though it was not sulfur he needed, he reckoned that in combination with a marketplace, the sulfur might come in handy.
Loynis, meanwhile, visited some learning objects.

Week 3, Day 4

Tazar waited for two of his scouts to form a chain and bring him this week's reinforcements from the southern city of Mossden. His troops easily broke through the anti-magic garrison and he found himself in a secluded valley. Even a simple-minded warrior such as Tazar had to stop and marvel at the sight before him: there, on the glittering Magic Plains, Hydras were swimming in their Pond, Mighty Gorgons guarded an Obelisk, while the entire hollow was covered with sulphur dunes.

The beastmaster set to tame the wild creatures and lost his war machines in the ensuing combat. "There are usually less than nine Hydras guarding a nest... They must have gathered over the last month", Tazar reasoned.

What worried him more than his losses or accumulated guards was actually his new skill. He had to choose between Ballistics and Navigation, and he almost picked the latter. Almost. Tazar was aware there were many sieges awating him in this great adventure, but here was the first skill useless against the Behemoths.

Unlike his master, the commander had a choice, and he picked a Magic skill. This was not his usual set of abilities, but Gageteer had the final fight in mind when mastering these.

Meanwhile, Malekith discovered the location of the Dark Blue Tent, while Tazar noticed the Red one at the foot of the secluded valley. "Since we haven't signed an official treaty, I guess my allies and I will each have to visit all the tents. I better inform them as soon as possible", the beastmaster thought to himself and attached yet another note to the leg of the homing pigeon, who was getting really weary of all these scribbles.

Week 3, Day 5

Time was flying by. Orrin's men caught a pigeon with a note from the home king. The Behemoths seem to be tough enemies, with smart tactics. It was necessary that stronger creatures were needed. Orrin let the hometown build a monastery, where they could train monks. 'Religion is a powerful ally,' said Loynis to his friend. 'It gives strength to those who have none, and it takes strength from those who oppose our holy Lord.'
The kingdom's low income really prevents the hometown from expanding. Not even all creatures can be bought this week.

Week 3, Day 5

Having defeated the Mighty Gorgons, Tazar was able to get a closer look at the map engraved in the blue Obelisk. When the beastmaster touched the cold stone, a piece of the puzzle glimmered for a moment and then disappeared:

"It seems the Grail is located on the rough land... Somewhere on the central island?" Needless to say, he wouldn't have thought of that before, but the beastmaster had just mastered Basic Wisdom.

Tazar also found a shining Cuirass in the Gorgons' smelly den. Judging by its size, the armor must have belonged to some Titan who probably got lost in these marshes and was killed by the gaze of the dreadful bulls. When he put it on, the beastmaster felt power flowing through his body. "Bah, this plate is for wizards, not warriors! I bet my friend Zydar would love it... I'll keep it and give it to him when I see him - if he lives that long", Tazar snorted.

The hour was getting late, so he quickly copied the chart from the Obelisk and set southward, to conquer the last free city in his swamp. The news of Orrin's hardship reached him on his way, and he ordered 5000 gold pieces sent to his ally. "After all, Orrin joined the quest a day later", he thought. But the truth was Tazar didn't care much for fortune as much as he enjoyed fame (and scantily clad ladies).

Week 3, Day 6

Orrin greedily speeded towards the Water Wheel, where a bag of 1000 gold coins was given to him. Mirko pointed southwards and Orrin witnessed another pile of gold. This was a golden day for sure.
When he saw Loynis wandering around the lands, he wanted to share his good day.
'Hello, dear colleague. You will never guess what I brought the kingdom today,' he began.
'That is true, for I never guess. Guessing is irresponsible, since it is not accurate enough. I only say or do things when I am entirely sure that I am right.'
'W... what?' Orrin might have learned Basic Wisdom a few days ago, but the cleric had him baffled now.
'I don't guess, I know for certain.'
'Allright then, you will never KNOW what I brough the kindom today.'
'You mean those 2000 gold coins?'
'How do you know? Did Mirko tell you?' He looked around to find his treacherous commander.
'No, actually I can see your supply card's content, since it isn't sealed off.'
'Ah... hm... But eh... great, isn't it?'
'Certainly. But nothing compared to the 5000 golden coins I received from our fine ally Tazar.'
Orrin looked amazed, and then walked away from this cleric. He will not have himself outsmarted or defeated. At least he won more battles than this self-centred cleric...

Week 6, Day 6

Since Tazar couldn't reach the neutral city of Hermit's Cove in one day, he decided to spend some time improving his skills along the way. Sparring with some of Tatalia's finest gladiators in the local Arena advanced his Attack, while the afternoon spent with the scholars in the Library of Enlightenment improved all his abilities. Finally, a humbled prayer at the ancient Idol boosted the morale of his troops. The beastmaster was yet to visit the Magic Well ahead and the local war War Machine Factory, and then he would be more than ready for the big fight tomorrow.

Meanwhile his scouts discovered another gold mine sailing along the coast.

Orrin laughed at himself, as he admired his looks in the mirror after a victory on a few rebel Archers. When someone entered the tent, he knew it was Loynis again. Why did this cleric had to visit him all the time?
'Any news?'
'Yes. I've answered a call for help from Zydar. He was in need of supplies.'
Orrin turned around hastily. 'Are you aware that we are short supplied as well?'
'I did not give the 3000 gold he asked, because we needed it.'
'What DID you give him then?'
'Four pieces of lumber.'
'Oh he can have those. We can almost swim in lumber these days...'
'If you say so...'

Week 3, Day 7

Tazar captured the city of Hermit's Cove at the cost of a dozen Lizardmen. "Worthless Ballistics", he grumbled, "My catapult hit everything but the gate and the tower!" So the beastmaster decided to advance his knowledge of Air Magic, lest his troops ever fall behind again. His commander Gageteer mastered the Attack skill... Being immune to their deadly gaze, he was the one who took out the stack of Mighty Gorgons all by himself. Soon men and beasts alike will fear him...

Hermit's Cove was the last neutral settlement in the moors, and Tazar was getting ready to leave the island in a day or two. His scout Malekith had finally returned, bringing minor artifacts and stories of distant lands. The beastmaster was anxious to set sail...!
