Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas OOC
Watched the movie (again) and got this roleplay idea.
The basic concept is the following. The story (if it can be called that way) takes place somewhere in the 70s, in the USA.
Players are heavy abusers of hallucinogenic drugs. Of all kinds. Be it a hippie, a nut lawyer, an anarchist, a college student or a GI from 'Nam, every character shares a special liking for these trip-inducing substances, which get them into various troubles over their adventures.
The adventures you think up yourself. They don't need to have a reason. Maybe, one day, you decided to travel to somewhere in Texas to see polar bears, or attempt to swim over the Atlantic so you need to get there. Maybe you owe someone some cash, or you stole a shyteload of drugs, and so are trying to reach the border and consume them all along the way so the border guards don't discover them (and it's a pity to throw them away). Perhaps you migrated from Mexico 10 days ago, forgot about that, and are now trying to run away to Mexico. It doesn't have to involve Las Vegas, it's in the title just as an homage to the film and the book. Players can travel solo or in groups, but to make it interesting I suggest crossing your ways every now and then.
The more chaotic, random, pointless, diverse and fun, the better. You should be high most of the time; whether you get a good or a bad trip is up to you (heck, you can toss a coin). Feel free to watch Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (or read the book) for ideas.
Your character may have a preference to a specific drug, or just have a suitcase full of them and reach out for a random one every once in a while. Like I said, it's up to you.
Statistics or special abilities aren't needed - it's enough to simply describe your character as a person. Is he nervous, is he cold, does he have the Vietnamese syndrome, or Tourette's syndrome, does he act in a specific way, is he a religious fanatic, or maybe a communist, etcetera etcetera.
Anyone interested? I thought it might be cool to have a bit of rest from conventional RPs with something like this. Oh and, to the sirious members, this isn't supposed to promote drugs or such a way of life, it's just for fun.

Strapped to the back of my low-rider is a chaotic assemblage of plastic cans, duffel bags, unidentified indigenous looking artifacts, and other debris, all covered with various pueblo looking hieroglyphics and other random scrawlings and flags.
btw, if you'd like some other 70's drugee culture references, you can watch "Easy Rider" or read the book "Bright Lights, Big City". You'll be able to see where some of my character comes from
