Usually I'm not a sucker for the really emotional stuff
This, however, I couldn't unwatch. It's rrare that a TV commercial lasts about 4 minutes, let alone a Thai TV commercial that is actually made by people with a sense of sanity (kinda like Japanese advertising), but I have a feeling the director of this ad needs to get into the move business sometime soon.

Lol.
It's obviously the latest one in the advertisement industry to try and link a product with the emotions that extraordinary deeds or performances or feats invoke.
I mean, admit it, "Pantene, you can shine" is just anti-climactic.
T-mobile did it with the casting story of Paul Potts, which was essentially the same: a completely unexpected brilliant performance against all odds, moving the cynics to tears - and with the right mobile phone technology YOU can be in on it, if it happens, because someone may just see it over the net, send you a message and there you go as well.
It's well done and all, but it's presented by the wrong host, so-to-speak. It's the essence of greatness and the emotions linked to everything that comes with it, TRIVIALIZED by linking it with some cheap product.
In short, it's a lesson in manipulation.

ROFL they spent 4 minutes on that? The commercial was utterly retarded. Where in the world would they even have the time to advertise something like that? 4 minutes of air time? I can't imagine that commercial was worth it's high cost.
Plus the story itself was incoherent; the story of a deaf girl playing music and then at the end it's implied that Pantene is what made her shine? Pathetic.

You TOTALLY said that to inspire debate.
Okay, in all seriality, it really was finely conducted. But the fact that it was a Pantene Pro-V commercial destroyed it for me. I mean other than that fact that it was nice to watch until the very last image, I have no idea why I would want to go buy their hair products because of it.
Actually... I DO use Pantene Pro-V sometimes...
That's it. Herbal Essences, here I come.

I get mad whenever they interrupt the Canon. The Canon must not be interrupted. Ever.

That was kind of interesting. I wonder what purpose a commercial like that would serve, with a running time several times that of a movie trailer.
I actually think it was quite wellmade in terms of aesthetics and playing the emotions. The story is almost too much of a cliché, but I guess it works because it tries to play the "real story", even if I don't think it states anywhere that it actually IS a real story. The interesting thing is that if it's not a true story, the story is so unlikely that it seems to defeat its own purpose to tell it like that, because it makes the product seem untrustworthy.
