Creating your own hero
Hi guys and gals I haven't been here in a while but I was wondering wouldn't it be nice to create our own heroes.
I mean they all start of with the same stats as they normally would and level up in the same way, but personalising them. Giving your own heroes their portrait (your own beautiful faces)and background would be so much better. Better still if you could keep them when you are playing your own campaigns on TOH (if that is possible in HOMM4). So tell me what you think about creating and personalising your own heroes I think it would be cool!

Of course it would be cool but...
... how p**sed would you be to loose your hero in a battle ?
I know that if I'd spent time and energy customising him/her only to find them slaughtered I'd be gutted !
Although you could create them would'nt the hero go into the Hero Pool and anyone could select it - if you were playing random that is.

Don't think it will be very hard to get your picture up there as hero .... as for the total customizing of a hero I'm less enthusiastic … it will seriously dmg the game play I think!@

In heroes IV you don't lose your heroes, other players can not hire them, they can only kill them or imprison them. If they die, you can ressurect them, if they are in prison you can free them. This might make you want to do so even more? You can already customize your heroes to a certain extent in H4, pick a gender, face, name, write a bio.
Mostly the difference would be using a custom picture for the face, so who knows it could happen. If not in the first release, maybe an expansion?

Yeah it would take ages to create a hero and a massive bummer if they got themselves killed gotta give u that but maybe if there was a way to save your starting hero details then it wouldnt take ages to create. Or maybe make it something optional so u can either get a pre-generated hero or your own.

Customizing a Hero is quick and painless:
Name: Xenophanes
Gender: Male
Class: Sorcerer
Skills: Chaos Magic, Conjuration
Biography: Xenophanes originally came from Enroth to Nighon, becoming Chief Draconverser to the Dragon Queen Mutare of Nighon. He was able to escape Nighon after the Reckoning, and now makes his home in the Asylum towns.
That took me what, thirty seconds?
Also, choosing a portrait shouldn't be that hard. And if Xenophanes is killed in battle, I just ressurect him or lay siege to the castle that he is imprisoned in.
