Well, I voted yay! But seriously, I doubt they'll add two factions per expansion, maybe they'll release three mini expansions each bringing one faction each..?

More factions are always nice. I doubt it'll happen, but maybe they'll give us 1 in the first expansion and then 2 in the second. If we assume factions start out as 2 good, 2 evil and 1 neutral, they could add 1 neutral and then 1 good + 1 evil. 8 factions total was fine in H5 I think.

I don't think it's an unreasonable expectation, though it'd be worth waiting to see what the H6 template for a faction is. If each faction turns out to be ridiculously complex with tons of replay value...

To be fair I don't see this happening. For some reason I get the impression they want to stray away from the stuff Nival introduced in the series. Like how most likely Dark Elves are out. Plus if you think about it, adding back Dwarves and Orcs in expansions would be totally rehashing. I believe that's why this is a prequel, so they can explain why some factions would not be as relevant as they were in HOMM5, without having to create a brand new universe. I can see the Naga added in an expansion but not much else.
I don't know how HOMM5 fared financially, but I can easily see HOMM6 being affected by some bad impressions of HOMM5, plus being overshadowed by other kinda games in currently more popular genres. And then there are some of the radical changes that might cause a bad word of mouth among fans, so I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't spend much on expansions. Of course I might be totally wrong, but to me a 6th Heroes is already more than I expected, so it's better to keep expectations low to get positively surprised.

doubt that they will add 2 races per expansion
they want to put full focus on one race at the time
naga and faceless should be the expansion races
the faceless already seem to fit into the h6 storyline

Disagree about dark elves and orcs, it's not a matter of copying Nival. These factions are well established in the setting and its lore, they are there whether they are part of the current storyline or not. That's kinda like saying we wouldn't have haven because that would be rehashing of the previous 5 games
H5 actually sold well, quite well. Which is also evident by Ubi's moves thereafter like DM, Clash of heroes - the latter soon to be released in good consoles, heroes kingdoms, the Ubi newsletters ect etc. They know there's money to be made and are steadily establishing the Ashan world. I'd say so far so good, it will all depend on how H6 does.

I can easily find fitting to have Sylvan and Dark elves coming up in the first expansion and having someone like orcs from the beginning (in my mind Wizards are already a fourth faction). By the way I'm still hoping for 6,7 or 8 factions from the very start of H6.

Yes, didn't they just about say outright that H5 was sort of a testing the waters to see if this was even commercially viable, and then they would continue the series if they got good numbers?

Yeah, I'm not certain but I think it was rumoured that H5 sold two to three million copies overall. Very impressive numbers for a TBS, if they're correct.
There's also an old article where NWC employee explained that Heroes games are always sleeper hits, so if H6 is a solid game and has a lot of longevity, it should easily outsell its predecessor.

Seems somewhat redundant with Dungeon. If anything they should just be added as a tier 7 creature or some other special creature.

Are you certain? I've never come across such an image. Save for the images Baklava used in his faction of his own make, but those have no lore credibility whatsoever.
@ Blizzard. Yes you are right that Dungeon makes them redundant. But I disagree that they should be a tier 7 creature. They should not be in game at all for players. They should either be the guys who pull the strings in the shadows or they should be a boss.
Mostly because there are only very few left, I doubt there are more than 10 of them.
