Historical chaos in Egypt
* Over 100,000 demonstrators were in Egypt, even after the curfew which occured about an hour ago, thousands are still protesting!
* Heavy explosions are heard!
*Cairo is burning, including the ruling parties' HQ!
* Military appears to be with the demonstrators in many places.
* President Mubarak has yet to have said something.
This is an epic, historic moment!

I'm rather surprised it took this long for such a major revolt to occur over Mubarak. The man is already 82 and it's as though it hardly matters anymore (though when he goes his administration will presumably live on with another face at the front).
The secular regimes that were installed in the M.E. back in the early 20th century are starting to reach critical condition. Egypt is experiencing this revolt now, Turkey isn't too far off from a similar revolution, and you can bet places like Syria and Jordan will follow. It will be interesting to see if there will be an Ottoman part 11 (more than likely a Union, since the prospect of Union is so fashionable right now). Probably the last place to go - if at all - is Saudi Arabia since there is enormous Western interest to keep the Saudi regime alive. It's also one of the most difficult since it's the center of Islamic theology.

I don't think they'll ever be allowed to create a Union, as long as the West has anything to say about it, and I'm pretty sure it does.
Then again, who knows. Maybe a large, modernized and prosperous Islamic economic union would draw Muslims away from Europe for a bit. And get them preoccupied with their own inner political struggles between member nations. I could picture the flooded countries of Western Europe seeing the prospect of that.

People shouldn't be so quick to cheer on these protests. Egypt's president may be a virtual dictator, but he's also a secular power.
Remember what happened to Iran after the Shah was eliminated.

Where did this come from?! Sure I know Turky has been involved with some development projects with dams and energy, but this idea that they will and other countries will suddenly form up into a union is a little premature don't you think? Besides Turky seems intrested in joining the EU.

Turkey will be the least likely to link up since it's semi-Europeanized, but if the regimes in the lesser Arab nations go, you can bet it can very possibly move in that direction. Just look at groups like the Muslim Broterhood that carry so much clout among the people. Culturally - and more importantly religiously - the M.E. is a relatively unified region. You won't find the patriotism/nationalism present in the M.E the way you can more easily find it in the self-hating/divisive Balkan countries or even in W. Europe (though they pretend not to be patriotic, they are). Only a minority of Middle Easterners will be sorry to see their individual countries lose their identity. The governments in the M.E. and the people themselves are like water and oil.

Seriously it's completely possible. We're so used to nations breaking up rather than merging since that's what the trend has been since the 1940s, but it's happened hundreds of times before and it can happen again. There's the necessary ideological unity in the M.E. for a merger to happen eventually.

Btw, after the people have been protesting and calling for Mubarak to resign, he's decided to dismiss his cabinet and reinstate a new one but says that he'll be staying in power. This guy is trolling Egypt for the lulz.

No there isn't and ideological unity is not enouph to gurantee unity anyways. Dude your thinking that all people in the middle east are a bunch of crazy Osama types. Not how it works.
More to the subject at hand however I think the movements in the middle east are protesting for democracy. The fact they are happening somewhat simaltaniously says more about communications tech than any real unit between them.

Its apparently been confirmed that riot police has been ordered to go around and loot in civilian cloths, they was found with ID, goverment orders, and authorized weapons.
Well, now that its confirmed, we shall see how more fun will turn up.

There is no better reason to revolt
(yes I know they shut down the Internet first after this mess started.)
However, if this revolt/revolution/whatever should manage to change the government. Well lets just hope they don't get a new dictator...

Considering how ap prison is set up, you just don't have 1000 prisoners getting out on the street without somebody going around and handing out the keys.
I guess they was "escaped" so that they was suppose to discredit the revolt.
And that is 2 large nails in the presidents coffin....
