The warrior chuckles. "Indeed I wear the bones of my ancestors, and those of my first hunt. Still, I too am a spirit..sent to test those who try to claim the riches within the temple. Those.." he points to the trolls, "are mighty warriors, but they are not spirits. They are not worthy of entering into the temple. You..you are no warrior. You speak to the plants, a spirit much like what lies within. Do you have the heart to face my challenge? Do you have the courage?" His movements are of a trained hunter, stalking its prey. He seems absolutely unconcerned about the two huge trolls. Each which look like they could tear him in half without breaking a sweat.

The driver pays absolutely no attention to you, his hands almost white knuckled on the steering wheel, fear evident in his eyes. He is seeing something that scares him almost witless, but he is somehow managing to keep the vehicle straight.

Rosina looked at the dragon for several seconds, unsure what she should do. She had been lucky once, but would she be so lucky again if she tried to remove the chain? She did not know, but the dragon had been nice and told her how the chain worked instead of simply letting her approach and probably be killed. She owed it, didn't she?
Then she tried the same approach again, sending the illusions of herself in all kinds of directions, some even toward the faces of the demons, but she herself headed for where the chain was secured, set on at least trying to remove it.

The dragon does not stir, and the chain remains solid when Rosina arrives at it. The Axe probably would be able to cut through the chain..if Rosina could somehow think of a way for the chain not to see the axe coming.

Mitch hesitates when the sphinx speaks to him. He abandons the shadow transformation, and gazes around, watching for any spiders that may be about. Seeing none, he walks over to the sphinx, stepping lightly as he goes along.
"What wisdom to you have to grant me, Great Sphinx?" Mitch asks with a bow, though leaving his head in a position he can keep an eye on the sphinx, and anything in his peripheral.

Jack draws himself to his full height, his arrogance getting the better of his caution.
"Of course, I accept your challenge! What kind of challenge will it be?"
The man grins.
"Physical combat."
Suddenly, the man leaps forward with the speed of lightning, hits Jack in the head with his staff and lands softly behind him. He straightens up as Jack's pumpkin head falls down and rolls to his feet. Behind him, he hears Jacks body fall lifelessly onto the ground.
"Unfortunately, you are not worthy." he says and turns to the trolls.
Before any of the three does anything else, however, something happens. The will 'o' wisps that surrounded Jack's head rise up and begin to dance around the warrior's head. He watches them in confusion and doesn't notice the vines that move on the land beneath him. They coil around his feet rope them both together, preventing any movement. It's clear that they won't hold him for long, but it was not their intention. As the hunter is about to rip the vines apart, two straw-filled hands come out from behind him on both sides, grab the teeth necklace on his chest, turn it around and press it against his throat, all in one swift movement. The necklace is big enough to encircle half of the man's neck and the sharp fangs slightly puncture his throat. A voice comes from beside his feet where the pumpkin head lies. It is grinning.
"Have I passed your challenge or do I need to press the teeth into your throat first?"

The goat-demon was much distracted by the taunting by Melinda, his back turned towards Ben. Not certain where their sasquatch friend was or what he was doing, Ben decided not to need to rely on him.
He swiftly raised his sabre and brought it down in a swift chopping motion. The blade entered the demon where it's neck met it's shoulders and went diagonally across the sternum. Ben pulled out the sabre and repeated the motion on the other side of the neck. Grabbing the head by the horns with his free hand as the body toppled forward, Ben felt a very odd urge to put the ravaged point of demonneck onto his own gaping neckwound.
He suppressed the urge and toned down the balefire licking out of his eyes and mouth. Tossing the demonhead aside, carefull not to throw it against one of the museumartifacts, Ben kept his sabre in hand as they continued.

The figure chuckles as Jack feels his connection severed, as the hands just fall to the ground. The figure stands.."Intelligence wins the day, not force. That was a very clever move." The figure gives a salute and just vanishes..apparently the way is now clear for Jack to enter the pyramid and claim whatever is inside. No wonder the figure was not worried about the trolls..they would have just attacked directly and had no chance of winning.

A strange light bursts from the demons staff, striking the Ghost girl and the sasquatch..barely missing Ben. Both the girl and the sasquatch vanish in a ball of flame. The demon must have had some sort of spell on itself that if it fell this was a last ditch effort to strike his enemies down.

"Alright!.. ummm... hold on a minute."
Jack's hands raised themselves on their palms and his body bent down touching the hands with its shoulders. The hands seemed to just grow in and a second later there was no sign that they were ever severed. Then he picked up his head and placed it firmly on his shoulders.
"As I was saying... Alright! No one challenges a Jack 'o' Lantern to a game of wits and gets away with it! Come on, guys, say it: I'm awesome!" He looks at the smirking trolls and straightens himself up, "Well, I guess you guys should just stay here and keep watch, I'll go inside the pyramid and get... whatever it was we came here looking for."

Rosina wanted to kick at the chain in frustration, but decided to employ pretty much the entirely same strategy for the axe as she had used for herself. She focused on the axe, recreating its image in her mind and then locked her eyes onto it. The Axe rose from the ground and flew toward her, though there were not only one, more than a dozen copies of it chose different paths, hoping it would be enough she reached her hand out to catch it. All the while keeping an eye on the dragon, in case it would attack.

Vlad, Mina, no...
Vince changed to his golem state in a few seconds. You could see his skin being swallowed by his bones and even more bones that don't exist in a human body. Some were long, some were curved, some thick.

The aztec pyramid has been unused for a long time, so it is musty, but there are no traps waiting at least. When you find the talisman, it is held by a skeleton of some ancient warrior. Which has a familiar looking mask and necklace. For some reason your hand, acting completely on its own, yanks the necklace off and pockets it.
Rosina
The dragon does not react, and as the Axe bites into the chain severing it, the dragon bellows a triumphant bellow. "FINALLY, I am free. In return I will take some of these demons out. Fare the well, and good fortune!" As it lifts off, as good as it's word..it tackles some of the demons .. using its breath weapon and other natural weapons to devastate their ranks. It flies off to who knows well once done.

Changing back and forth as needed to make sure you are not seen by humans in your bone form..you make it back to the headquarters with the cross. Not everybody is yet back, but there are of course some of the monsters that did not go on the mission still there.

"Huh... well that was easy." Says Jack, then pauses and adds in a low voice, "Too easy."
He looks around to see if anything suspicious is going to fall from the ceiling or roll out of the wall.

"Umm, hello, I'm back...", Vince said with a sad voice.
He showed the cross to the crowd that was gathered in the room. However, no one payed much attention to him - most of the monsters were looking for Vlad and Mina.
"I, uh, well, you see, Vlad and Mina... they have encountered some sort of a giant demon. He was really tall and strong and... uh, I don't thing they've made it."

You exit the temple, and you see two pikes sticking out of the ground with a head on each. Your two troll companions have been decapitated. One of them has burn marks on its neck, the other seems to have some sort of ice on its neck...you have a feeling they are not going to regenerate from that...

Jack stops in his tracks as he exits the temple. He removes his head and scratches it. Then he turns it face his own neck.
"That's unfortunate. They were rather fun, always grinning and whatnot. Hey, you know what that means? That means I'm awesome! I can control plants, like any other Lantern, only I can control wild plant life too. I have clearly inherited the cunning of the original Jack and I can regenerate much better than trolls! I was decapitated by that warrior and I'm just fine."
Pleased with himself, Jack puts his head back and starts walking they way they came. Then he stops and looks back at the temple.
"Come to think of it, that warrior said something about a plant spirit in that temple..." He shrugged and went on, "Ah well, he probably got scared and hid himself. He figured out I can beat him at his own game. Or any other game. Except Hide and seek. I hate hide and seek. My will 'o' wisps always give me away."

"My but you do talk to yourself a lot." Comes a voice from the jungle. "At least the trolls didn't talk much as I killed them." How Jack missed the figure that steps out of the jungle, is anybody's guess. Not exactly tall, but the figure is rather..wide. More .. rolling then walking, the figure looks like it has been eating since the beginning of time..and just forgot to stop once full. It looks like a slug with arms and a human head, only bloated and even more grotesque. It has a dozen mouths, at least. Maybe more. "As for the jungle spirit, it sleeps..thankfully. It's guardian was bested, so it had no need to wake. Now..I will take that artifact if you please."
This .. thing.. killed two trolls? How did it stop eating long enough to do anything, let alone kill two trolls?!
