Favorite artifacts
What are your favorite artifacts besides the very powerful combination ones? Here's mine.
Treasure: Quiet Eye of the Dragon
Minor: Boots of Speed
Major: Shackles of War
Relic: Spellbinder's Hat or the Helm of Heavenly Enlightenment

Best based on looks only:
Treasure: Blackshard of the Dead Knight
Major: Pendant of Negativity (best looking in the game), Orb of Tempestuous Fire, Dragon Scale Shield
relic: (most looks good but Tome of Fire Magic is favorite)

Worst based on looks only:
Treasure: Helm of the Alabaster Unicorn
(I would refuse to wear such garbage)
Emblem of Cognizance is the worst looking AND worst ability combined!!
Sea Captain's Hat is also awful looking (looks like a toilet seat + is rarely useful). If I was out at sea I would throw that junk overboard or use it as an anchor for the ship.

These are for single player. Also, these aren't necessarily what I feel are best, but ones I personally feel are awesome and fun to play with:
Treasure: Spirit of Oppression.
Minor: Boots of Speed.
Major: Really tough one. I'll say Cape of Velocity. Honorable mention to Golden Bow and Shackles of War.
Relic: Orb of Vulnerability. I never see Armageddon's Blade, Spellbinder's Hat, Tome of Air, or Angel Wings enabled on maps, so yeah... honorable mention to Helm of Heavenly Enlightenment.

good picks
Magic heroes already weak as it is so I think orb of inhibition is downright unfair. There should be an artifact which does something like disabling all attack/defense primary skills + offense/armorer secondary skills.
Having both Dragon Wing Tabard and Cape of Velocity is nice, and rotating them as needed based on what you are fighting

Treasure: Cape of Conjuring.
+3 to spell duration is really practical especially in the beginning of the game, so this is very handy as a start-up artifact both for archers (slow), fighters and town guards (shield, stone skin)
Minor: Boots of Speed.
Good for everyone and faster than the gloves. Also it doesn't conflict with ring sets like the gloves.
Major:Golden Bow if you got many shooters, especially Elves. Shackles of War otherwise.
Relic: Tome of Earth Magic.
Resurrection/Animate Undead, Town Portal, Implosion all at once even if you don't have the wisdom to learn them, being able to port all heroes to learn town portal spell if it pops in one of the towns, most useful level 1 spells. This is better than Tome of Air because critical level 5 Air Magic spells can be also obtained with Spellbinder's Hat.
