Some fan arts by me.

hi everyone.

outside was really cold, so i thought to myself, why not sketching some dwarven mage guild? 4 levels, each one builds up from previous one.

not colored yet, also it lacks details of carved runes, stained glasses and etc etc... it still needs work but you can see the structure of it.

i am also working on dwarven archer+ballista tower, since its just an another sort of tower. this one is just at the beginning, needs tons of works.

what do you guys think?

thank you for your interests and kind words guys.

yes, currently i use google sketch up. its one of my main tools in early stages.

i normally do some researches about topics im interested in, then do some sketches with hand or computer to create them in their general forms. true beuty comes much more later with added details, colors and materials chosen.

as you may noticed, at first i was just designing buildings one-by-one seperate from each other, but now i realised that this wont do much good for a serious long-term project.

dwarves have an unique life style, their relation with stone and their connection with terrain(mountain & caves) are really deep. a design without having that in mind would be a mistake. so i decieded to not rush things and create a terrain for town first.

also im having my final exams in university, so i even need more time than i acctually do.

my next update will take at least a week or two, but it will be a big one, showing all buildings, town and terrain itself as an undetailed early version. my dwarven mage guild and tower probably will still be a part of it.

my currently planned buildings:
+a temple of arkath(mage guild)
-an extension to temple main tower(for dwarven rune priest)
-an extension to temples front yard, a monumental space(for valkyrie)
-an extension building, deep in temple's acctual field(for lava dragon)

+a town square surrounded with some buildings
-marketplace
-resource silo
-a connection to mine(special dwarven building providing random amounts of resources weekly)
-tavern
-a lot of houses nearby.(still did not decided if they should be carved in rock, buried below terrain or just stand on train like real life normal houses.)

+a military district connected with town walls and town square.
-a building(for dwarven defender)
-another building(for dwarven crossbowman/axe thrower/spear thrower?)
-a bridge to ram riders hall. training rams and entertaining townsfolk, and another brindge to rams living area, ram caretakers/trainers buildings and grassy cliffs and such(mostly vertical terrains) for feeding rams.
-a long, distant path to terrains top. troll caves.

+town walls, towers, gate. a sky corridor bridge connecting main map and town gate, surrounded by stone dwarven statues. bridges below is a river(or lake?) of lava.
+another special building. as an upgrade, ballista tower upon gate.

alternate:
+a temple pool(for salamender)
+a isolated villa/fort hybrid building on top of mountain(for thane/giant?)

feel free to make suggest/help/contribute.

I prefer the villa, if you don't mind. Being on the top of the mountains always stroked my ego.

yeah acctually thats a hard decsion i have to make before starting all other work.

will there be a mountain or no mountain? is it beneath earth? is it inside mountain? or under a flat terrain? or like h5, a tunnel to lava? pretty much confusing.

i like vanilla too, but "the king under the mountain" thing makes me look for a mountain, maybe a different version from what we get with h5.

hi everyone. i ve been studying for my final exams at university for the last 3 days passed, but im finally back to design.

i want to share 2 piece of quick sketch for the "dwarven front gate".

...so im thinking about colossal statues for the left and right side of the main gate + the stone bridge connecting to it.

thinking about it again, maybe statue is a bad word for them. they are carved dwarven figures from face of mountain. im placing the acctual town to the mountain inside creating a background theme and the mountain theme at the same time. enterance to town(and to mountain ofcourse) is supposed to be awesome... with giant gates+castle+wall+tower protection+decorative stuff.

just a small update to recieve some feedback. what do you think about this idea?
