Ok, I didn't play bad neighboring but dried lands which is no 3-week rush map. Conclusions from playing one map are a bit speculative, I think.

Bad neighbors is a fast duel skirmish map that has a lot of features that lets say an 4v4 player map does not.

Example: You could get bone dragons in week one back in H2 as well, but to do so on higher difficulty was a challenge.

At the moment I am playing a custom game with Academy. I am enjoying it. Also, I am meticulously jotting down all the bugs/issues I have with the game. Expect an extensive feedback report by Monday.

PS. Heroes are sluggishly slow! Moving anywhere takes soooooooooo much time! Please, make them faster! Also, make exploraition a bit more useful, as at the moment +1 bonus to movement points isn't enough at all.

Just increase movement speed.

They already said they can't increase movement because they designed the campaigns with that minimal movement. They could I suppose in theory make custom games with more movement(seperate "master"-data), but why bother if they can strangle the fun out of customs with that the same way they strangle game-play features to follow lore...

The greatest problem was with the tmes when I moved out from main roads and entered desert. Let them leave current amount of movement points but they should definitely decrease penalties for moving through unfavourable lands, especially when playing a faction for which this terrain is native.

PS. This explaination... I won't even comment on it.

I'm not even sure h7 has "native" land if you mean like academy with sand or sylvan/haven with grass for example. I thought they simplified this to simply foreign=non-friendly and native being inside friendly AoC. And there is also altitude(rough) which eats faster movement points. Other than that it's just same plain land everywhere + roads(I never noticed any difference at least between rock/grass/desert for example). Also the pick-up costs about 10% of your default movement points so mine + 2 piles take 30% which seems excessive when on top of that you usually move on something other than road.

It's a cheap way to give difficulty to the game. But its not a lore thing.

No. But it does show where the biggest focus lie (campaigns) and I don't like it.

Good thing, actually,
Smaller maps, landscape looks more filled, less work...
New map sizes needed. XXS, XS, S, M.

I truly believe that its to give fake difficulty and make their job easier for the entire game rather than designing it around campaigns, but "blaming" said campaigns is easier for PR sake.

XXS? Can you even place a town at such a size?

Well, I hope by these reports they may at least consider reworking the limitations, like:
*traveling on a road costs 0.6 movement points
*traveling on native land or sea costs 0.85 movement points
*traveling on any other land costs 1 movement point

How would that be "fake difficulty" unless there was a timer designed for longer movement? No, I'm rather willing to believe It's about campaign design and I'm also willing to get rather angry about it since having campaign maps have special properties such as different movement speed would be a whole lot easier.

because they make the game harder by limiting the player rather than improving the AI.

But the only thing that changes is the general speed of how fast you can do things which applies to the AI and is easily circumvented by level-design, something we have every reason to believe they have? There is no limiting the player any more than usual, only having the turn timer go by more often. That will have barely any impact not noticeable on AI as well. I'm sorry, but I really can not see how this would be artificial difficulty if it doesn't make anything harder.
