I have:
P4 1.6/1.7 (not quite sure which) GHz
128-256 MB RAM (again not quite sure)
20GB Hard Drive(now you know what I want for X-mas)
Graphics - no idea
The only problem I have is with exiting the game; but hey, who wants to do that anyway?
Oh, and my mouse sometimes "sticks." It started this maybe a month ago, and whenever you leave the comp on for a while or play an advanced game for a while, the mouse begins to get slower and s l o w e r .............
I've asked some people, and they think it has something to do with my RAM.

Try it from a friend before you buy it...
The chances are not good.
Need a better cpu i think.

It won't be the fastest in the world but you should do just fine with a bit of patience and no animations.

I think the chances are good. I got the game a long time ago (wednesday before Easter) and spend the night at my friends place on a
PIII 500
192MB
16 M Graphics
Windows XP
and we played without any problems. Then I went home to my old comp:
AMD II 266!!!
256 MB
4 M Graphics
win 98
and got the game in 3 dimensions (the monitor showed the screen three times overlapping eachother) - not really playable. But I tested the speed of the game - and it was similar to my friends.
Well, I went to get a new graphics card 64MB killer - which of course couldn't run on my old motherboard; new m/b and processor and - the game was still in 3 dimensions!!!
It turned out to be the monitor which couldn't run the high resolution which is standard but as soon as it runs 600x800 - no problems...

Quote: I have a fast computer (P4 1.5, 128 MB RAM, 64MB Gf2 D, win98), yet I can't find a way to prevent the music from skipping. Any suggestions?
Try turning off hardware acceleration for sound. I think for win9x you have to run dxdiag, go to the sound tab and turn it off there.
Also, problems with video(like mouse pointer sticking) could be resolved with turning off video acceleration.

I have that install problem too and I think this one occurs at 77% too.
My Sys specs:
AMD Duron something, can't remember, although the mother board is of chaintech
800 MHz
256 MB ram
Lotsa free HDD space, around 3 gigs
WIN 98 SE !!!!!
Nvidia GeForce 4 MX 440
Creative Vibra128 PCI Sound Card
But what I can't understand is...why the hell does it give a file transfer error? The cd is clean and all, so what gives? And how come it ran perfectly on my slower Intel system?

The sound djay-mixing effect in HOMM4 retail (main menu, main theme on the adventure map) is a bit too much. The music itself is very nice though.

I think you'l do just fine
I had a 233 cyrix,4mb voodoo 1,64 ram and it worked fine in 800x600
now I have a duron 900 256 sdram nv11 and works great
for those of you with 77%....get a hdd with the game installed and put it on your comp IDE,then copy it on your drive...
best solution is to have both 98 se and xp so you can change anytime.
questions ?

minimum requirements heroesIV exp. packs
Hi
Have been playing HOMMIV for a while and decided I would like to get the exp. packs so have just purchased HOMMIV complete which includes WOW and Gathering storm exp. packs off ebay.
After sending off my money I have noticed that the ebay listing said minimum requirements are DVDROM. Is this right? Does it apply to both exp. packs? I only have a CDROM.
Thanks
