Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has passed away

This is a really sad day, not just for Nintendo fans, but for the video game industry as a whole. If you weren't familiar with Kirby or Pokemon, this was the bloke who created them.

It's a shame, and only at the age of 55 he was a great man!

It's also the man who apologized when reducing the cost of a console and cut his own salary in half when Nintendo didn't meet their goals as well as not being afraid of doing something silly every once in a while. He was on of those few CEO's in this industry i not only respected, but liked as a human being. He was humble and respectful himself and was one hell of a developer, having rewritten the entire code for earthbound and porting the pokemon battle system to the N64 without the design documents being but a few of the more impressive ones.

In an industry filled with as much crap as this one, Iwata was a breath of fresh air and dignity and i for one will miss him. He shaped my childhood and myself and i can't thank him enough for so many happy moments.

Rest in peace

Sad, indeed. What will happen to Nintendo, anyway?

Nintendo, as a company, is in a good situation. Its money reserves, collected during DS/Wii era, are enormous, its income has increased dramatically after introduction of amiibo, so its nearest future is rather safe.

Considering they're now working on new projects including a new console and mobile games, it's doubtful that Nintendo will make another deficit.
