Air magic is a must on all large maps, however best results are achieved when its picked after expert earth magic. The most important thing is to get mass slow spell as fast as possible, because it increases the creeping speed dramatically.

That was me. I don't remember the last time I cared about it at all. Mass haste is kinda nice, yeah, but that's hardly worth a skill slot. I heavily dislike maps where you can RNG into DD and Fly, and on the maps that give it to you later, I don't like having a skill slot only be useful for the last few days. The basic forms of those spells are broken enough. If I played duel myself instead of just watching better players, it's a must have skill of course.

I don't know main hero.. Even if I wrote about main hero much.. My many heroes are strong http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=47745 when maximum AI Difficulty MODs and options.. But you asked Air.. I love Air more than Earth, when I never met a problem, and then I cast a Slow.. Tactics, speed are enough well.. Slow for amateur or fear.. First Prayer, and then Haste.. Blind, Resurrection, Clone are also found well.. Slow is useless.. If I make a video, so you understand me.. It isn't better player or MP showed verify, and then you down out, but it's simple Tactics, speed.. An easy copy an idea.. Now I don't pick up Air much, thus Earth is easier TP.. But Air is welcoming.. I like full random map, and then I pick all skills than random map asked island, normal or none, and then other map showed picture or known maps.. Air is important.. So I've Air, what then? I played only one hero with Earth, when Wisdom is enough, but many heroes are different matter..

No you don't need any magic skills to beat the AI 1v7 FFA on 200%. Obviously they help but you don't need them!

There is only one missing skill which would make me restart a map, and that is not Air.

Depends. Are Fly & DD available from random mage guilds and artifacts? If yes, then of course. But I usually don't play those maps.
Without those I even find Fire more useful, specially in HotA, if I can assemble the Ironfist (Haste as a counter spell but Counterstrike does not).

And how would I prevent that? Ok, it depends on more than the faction, on map size, on rules (in PvP) and so on.
And, by the way, you must get the spell first to do it.

Air? Try my In The land of Nod (SoD map), even if you can realize in your dream needs WoG/ERA, when hidden.. I played WoG, but I made SoD.. Yes HotA should be working.. Sal and bloodsucker are played In The land of Nod.. Ok Phory, ZB, JJ, DD, gnollking, Barbuta.. Try beat my an average 50d to finish a map on impossible 200%.. I don't know why map isn't a popular, maybe players saw difficulty level to comparison other my maps.. Gaming eye matter.. I made a map, when I give a gift to my bro.. What he could like a map.. Thus map has different artwork, map wasn't a week's work but month.. Ok go to Air or not.. You are welcome..

By the rule of thumb Air magic should be on the list of go-to skills, the access to mass Haste alone is very, very valuable, and the Fly and DD later on gives the player insane amounts of map control. Upgraded Chain Lightning and View air are also good additions. But just like Zaio said with his initial answer, the Earth magic should totally be build before Air, but Air magic certainly should have a place within the leftover slots.

I ban Fly/DD. SoAir is only good for mass haste, which can be good but is not mandatory.
