Asylum Town From Heroes IV

As some may already know, one of the towns for Heroes IV will be the Asylum Town. I have matched up the six Heroes IV Towns to their Heroes III counterparts:
Haven=Castle
Preserve=Rampart/Conflux
Academy=Tower
Stronghold=Stronghold
Necropolis=Necropolis
Asylum=Dungeon

Since I am a lover of Dragons(just look at my avatar) I followed the Dungeon Towns "reincarnation" into Heroes IV quite closely, and I am now convinced that it is the Asylum.
I have seen a few(more like a throng) of screenshots of the Asylum, and, magnifying one to the max, I saw, inside a cave-like structure, what appeared to be a Red Dragon cloaked in shadows. I also saw, in other screenshotw, what looked like the Faerie Dragon Dwelling in Heroes III. The Red Dragon Cave mentioned above also bore striking similarities to the Frozen Cliffs - where Azure Dragons are recruited! Does this mean that any Dragon can be recruited at the Asylum?!!!

Don't do that agian!

Incubus,
DON'T DO THAT AGAIN!!! You freaked me out; mixing up the Academy with the Asylum. Yes, that is the picture I'm talking about, but there also is another one, with a viney, bushlike structure in the spot where the cave is. It has what look like yellow eggs in green fluff - sort of resembling a Magic Forest.

And Baal and El Diablo,
I just tried to post pictures, but it didn't work. I'll keep experimenting, but you might be able to get some from Incubus.

The tall, boxy structure in the lower right of the screenshot is probably the Mage Guild, and the teleporter-like object below that is probably a Portal of Summoning of some sort. To the left of that, there seems to be a Labyrinth. The Blacksmith might be the smoking structure to the right of the Mage Guild, and the thing with the eye in the top left might be the Pillar of Eyes, and the tree-like things in the bottom left might be a dwelling for Harpies.

The towns look fine to me.

anyway, the towns aren't all arranged the same for people who already play the game, they're arranged the same to make easier for people who don't already play the game.

Hmmmmmmm

Anti-Crusader,
I tried going to the site you suggested, but it didn't work. Are you sure you gave me the right url?

Rogue,
Your opinion is a bit flawed, I have to say, because if the towns are arranged for beginners, eventually beginners would become experts, and the towns would be too easy to work with. In the end, I think it is more rewarding to see exotic, diverse towns, learn about them, and then become someone who already knows how to play Heroes, than to be able to navigate the towns at first glance, and then let the game lose its luster.

El Diablo,
You are totally right.

Cool Storyline

I have just been surfing the web, and found this, the storyline for Heroes IV:

"Heroes of Might and Magic IV takes place after a cataclysm destroys the country of Erathia--the country central to recent Heroes of Might and Magic games, as well as the recent installments of the Might and Magic role-playing games. One of the survivors of this destruction is a woman named Emilia Nighthaven--a woman determined to help restore some semblance of peace and order to the world. In attempting to do so, she'll have to face the Immortal King Magnus, who commands deadly creatures called dragon golems, and also possesses an artifact capable of controlling the minds of others. Clearly, the king will make a daunting foe. The clash between Emilia and Magnus will be chronicled through seven different single-player campaigns."

This sounds interesting. King Gavin Magnus was revealed as the immortal ruler of Bracada in Heroes III. However, his country allied with Erathia in the Restoration of Erathia. Does this mean that the Towers have gone bad? That will be good news for Asylum and Dungeon fans - the Towers and Academies will be toppled!(The campaigns always end with good winning) I can't wait for more of this! I wonder, could Emilia Nighthaven work with the Asylums in the campaigns, because the Academies use Order magic, and the Asylums use Chaos magic. She would need the natural enemies of the Academies. I can't waitI can't waitI can't waitI can't waitI can't waitI can't waitI can't waitI can't waitI can't waitI can't waitI can't waitI can't waitI can't waitI can't wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually, some beginners *are* that dumb, and quit playing the game.

Anyway, what expert players wouldn't appreciate a simpler interface?  I appreciate an easier to use interface, no matter how long I use something. The longer you use something, the more it pays off to have an easy to use interface.

Hmm... no wonder so many people use Windows...

rogue is right

right you are, rogue.  i see no point in making the towns each have their things in different places.  it makes more sense to have them in the same places.  over time, that could cut minutes off the game, and our wives will really appreciate that.

Not to mention the other players...  There are some who hate having turns over 3-4 minutes.  They'd go nuts if playing against someone who takes forever deciding where to put things, as well as with the reading of events and deciding where to send a person, and huge titanic struggles...

Why should we pander to morons?

Yes great, the interface will be simplier...   but at what cost?  I'll tell you, atmosphere...  When you enter into a town that looks good and "feels" right, it enhances the game...   this atmosphere is one of the reasons for Homm's continued success, now 3DO has created a hum-drum game atmosphere, it's perfectly OK...  but it's not the glorious homm I remember....  And if it's not Homm, then why should I buy it and continue playing it?  Maybe AoW2 will pick up the fallen standards in the genere and become the new leader...

In short, this is not a simple issue...  it goes to the core of Homm, will it be the Great Homm4 we all expect or simply another fantasy strategy game?  And that is exactly what we discussing when you support sacrificing the nuance of the game for simplicity, and I have no need for a "simple" strategy game.  Talk about an oxy-moron.

Just my 2 cents.

Hmmmmmm

I don't think that less town "atmosphere" is something to worry about; the creatures in the towns make them diverse enough. Just look at the creatures for the Asylum:

Troglodyte------------------Warren
Gargoyle?-------------------Parapet?
Harpy-----------------------Harpy Loft
Medusa/Minotaur-------------Medusa Pond/Labyrinth
Nightmare-------------------Burnign Trees/Lava Columns
Black Dragon/Hydra----------Dragon Cave/Hydra Pond

Anti-Crusader/Incubus,
Remember(scroll up) when you said, "...(I WISH YOU ARE RIGHT!!!)Faerie Dragons....they are my favorites(only Nightmares are cooler...)", were you referring to a Nightmare Dragon, or the Nightmare Horses from the Asylum mentioned above?

I also have news that will make Asylum/Dungeon fans rejoice: I am pretty sure that Giants, the most powerful Academy creature, can't shoot! This will make Black Dragons easily more powerful, and therefore, the Asylum more powerful!!!

What do you people think about the Heroes IV storyline? Do you think that, because King Magnus rules Bracada, which builds the Towers, that he will be fighting with Academies? If so, does that mean that the Asylums, the Academies natural enemies, will fight against the Academies in the Campaigns? If so, since in the campaigns the good side always wins, and the Asylums, though evil, would be fighting for the good side, does that mean that DRAGONS WILL FINALLY CONQUER TITANS, THAT WARLOCKS WILL FINALLY KILL WIZARDS, THAT WARLOCK/DUNGEON/ASYLUM WILL FINALLY DESTROY WIZARD/TOWER/ACADEMY ONCE AND FOR ALL?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES, I THINK IT DOES!!!!! What do you think?

I have also made up a kind of rejoice song that this may happen:

Gavin's gonna di-ie,
Bracada's gonna bu-urn,
The Academies will fa-all,
AND MUTARE WILL RULE ALL!!!!!

(Emilia Nighthaven, Asylum, Warlocks, and/or Dungeon could be substituted for Mutare)
<DRAGONS rule, Titans, Bracada, Academy, and Gavin Magnus really suck!>
