i say necro town rulz if we are talking about the topic here i mean after all they got nacromancer skill the best skill in the world of homm and i don't think any1 can argue on this nacromancary is the best skill ever  .

Needless to say: Order Castle
for the following reasons:
1-Powerful magic: Life/Order/Death which is basically everything you need  ealing+enhancing/tactic + stealth/weaking+poisining spells.
It is obvilous that it is missing the powerful summoning of nature(although partily-substitued with create illusion spell), and it is missing powerful attack spells of choas(I prefer enhancing+healing+tactic such as bless/heal/shielding/precision) rather than using choas spells) Therefore I prefer this castle magic combination for example, forgetnless to disable armed, which just suits my strategy.
2- Tough mobs and strong combination. for example Titan & gene while using create illusion is a killer stragey
3- Not too expensive mobs
4- University for good startup skills and well-prepared characters
5- Treasury for money

I also choose the Academy.
I completely agree with Recca:
they have THE spells in the game.
I was about to enumerate some of them when I realized they are all great. and I've always been a magic guy...
also the academy has one of the best lvl 3 in the game, the genie, and a great lvl 4 -you know...
on the downside:
rather low HP/week
nor very fast on the adventure map, at least until you can afford to loose the dwarves and the halflings (if you've got smth better)
weak offensive spells. too weak for a hero made up especially for magic.

I agree with you on the down-side  Not too much on the low hp/weak, which will lead me to the disagreement on the third down-side
Why would you need offensive skills, if your hero will be BUSY supporting the units? And definitally the hero will be busy for several reasons:
1- In case the enemy has disable/order weakining/death spells , you will be extremely busy curing/enhancing your group
2- In case enemy is on the offensive side, hero will be busy casting support/life & healing/spells
And so on, which is the main advatange, in my humble opinion in the power combination of academy magic, since you have two major branches (life/death) and also order with its tactical powerful magic. So in all cases, you will be busy either supporting your units, weaking enemy units, or using tactic such as displacement/illusion/steal enchan. or whatever

All Homm4 towns suck. But Inferno, Tower and Rampart in Homm3 are best graphically. Inferno, if I remember right, has that red moon on the upper left above town hall, and the grail (red ghostly devil) looks uber. Tower because with its high and spiky towers looks like a fantasy mage city. Rampart because it looks like some sort of haunted swamp with the huge flower grail and the cryptic gorgon lair.

For me it is (and propably always will be) the necropolis (Death) town. I fell in love with this town in H2, cheated it some times in H3 with tower and fortress, but in H4 it again is my favourite, followed by academy and asylum
Nothing over the skelettal horrors!
(but ya all right wehna you say, academy has the coolest mageguild and houses^^)

I don't really play Heroes IV , and if i do i play with Chaos ... so i wouldn't know how to spell HAVEN ... because i don't really care how it's spelled ....
