well ... as you dont see (good) Knights with destructive magic in H5, you dont see warlocks with light magic ... having only one type of heroes / race , which is a mix of a knight with a mage makes you do certain choices in order to enhance his strenghts ! that's why warmachines + imbue arrow + rain of arrows might be the specialization needed for sylvan . and destructive magic for dungeon... that's the price we've got to pay because of the current hero system !

So I just spend the last 2 days reading this enormous thread... good stuff. Anyways, now that lucky empowered spells make implosion a scary thing again it is important to maximize your hero.  I like haven, and have favored the "good guys" ever since I started playing in Heroes 2.  I was regulary torn apart by high spell power warlocks.  My question is what skills/abilities do you recommend for a Haven Hero?  I am especially interested in what Towerlord has to say as he appears to be the resident Haven expert.  (I play 1.3)

I'm thinking...
Light
Attack
Logistics
...(maybe luck, leadership, enlightenment...?)

A good knight should always have

Light Magic(with Masters according to spells or viceversa), Attack(with Battle Frenzy at least), Defense(with Vitality at least) and Logistics. The last skill should be chosen out of Luck and Leadership. I prefer Luck most of the times !

Against Dungeon though Luck is useless, since the Marksmen will wipe out any of their stacks from one shot( unlucky shot i mean ) ... the Paladins might benefit from it, but they also kill many of the dungeon stacks from one shot....so the luck is a useless extra . So I'd rather have LeaderShip + Retribution.

You can also leave out Logistics, if the map ain't that big!

I'd say antimagic may be a good thing. Iresistable magic pierces through any resistances/immunities, but still it makes the damage a lot smaller.  Suffering only 40% damage through antimagic seems to be cool. However, it takes L4 mage guild and a lot of luck..

aww, Alcibiades, I think the key is to not linger for too long out there. The longer the game takes, the more power he gathers. Attack him after a month maybe, with 300-400 marksmen and he will cry "imba" and leave

i personally go with attack - not battle frenzy but archery and retribution..
for retribution you need expert leadership, cuz moral contributes to retribution.
defence..
light magic.
luck.

i play mostly hot seat - so it's ALWAYS very late game battle.

for quicker games you probably need logistics there.

Yeah, you're probably right. But it's not that much of a problem for me - I'm not really into the whole concept of monopolizing anyway, and after all, I didn't really come up with this image my self, so if he wants to share it, that's ok. Only problem is it's a bit confusing sometimes.

I really don't believe in haven's superiority,.
on just Big sized map,.(not very big) in hotseat i was crushed by my opponent playing Necromancers with Vladimir

he had something around 2500 skeletons and great number of other units

and i had my Lasclo hero with 50 paladins,. 600 archers.,.second hero was girl who can get 2 coins from peasants.

I upgraded my hero to be expert at light magic (using ressurection mainly)
and guardian angel

defense-vitality-stand your ground
luck
enligtinment
morale

but no... he won using phantom forces,.and raise dead which costed him only 3 mana and he had something around 160 mana. (16 knowledge with all artifacts)

so i played almost perfectly using training ability with peasant who were there for a long time givin me extra gold,.but it seem's like necromancy is too powerfull skill,.

the solution for tihs could be upgreaded skeletons in skeleton warrior's like in HOMM3,. being more powerfull in melee and defence than skeleton archers,. but atleast they'll have to move,.

Besides,.i always thought that fragile skeletons are not able to wield and use the bow.

600 archers? you must have played bad.

By the time he got 2,5 k skellies you should have like 1,2 k marksmen lead by dougal.

Who uses Vladmir nowadays? He sucks so much.

may be

I can't say i'm the best player,.
well it depents on do I really give all of myself.

But,. I do not understand what's wrong with vladimir,.under his leadership it's hard that anything will die,.

so which hero is better for necropolis?

I know that multiplaying makes you better player,. but I don't have time for that,.and rare are situations where I play hot-seat with my bro,.

so all the experience I can have is theory and 2x campaing playing (easy, normal),.and that from HOMM3 (but not too much),.first of all I'm disciples player (also TBS) i do hope you heard of that awesome game.

do you play on 1.3-1.4? Vlad has been sevrly weakened. Not only he gets poorer bonus, also the HP of the stack is reduced by 20% per every animate dead, in other words after 2-3 animate deads the unit becomes extremely weak and dies to anything in 1 hit. Vlad sucks.

The most popular now is Kaspar, because of his tent giving every undead player a significant advantage in creeping.

eh,.nou,. no upgreaded version

well,.if they really did this to Vlad,.then again he is not balanced well,.can they not found the ballance.

If HOMM 6 will ever be released..then i do hope that would be made by fans including myself.

Givin back some sence of nice cartoon graphic from HOMM1,2
+ sound of hero movement like in HOMM3
+ more,more and more balance
+ 2 new races water/frost nagas and total might orc/barbarian race,.that should more than enought races
+ Perfect desing of every unit
+ a lot of maps and scenarios to play

The real reason

The Haven is superior and I'll tell you why.  Is it because Paladin's are a dominant lvl 6 group that charge for damage? No but that is fun.  Is is because training produces obscene amounts of Marksman that refuse to be stopped?  No, but that certainly does help.  Is it because ArchAngels look cool and carry a big sword No, but we're getting closer.  The Haven is superior because we are the iconic good guys, and the good guys always win.  It is always the Heroes who stay on the path of Light and fight for what is right that will always some how, some way find a way to win.  Our power comes from a higher source that can never be defeated.  Long live the Haven
