Ok, thanks.
Also, if someone has free time to make tutorial on how to use your software. Step by step followed by pictures.
It will be helpful for me and maybe other skillful designers who want to dedicate themselves only to the graphic design.

I did that with my H4 Advanced Options Map Editor, but I guess I never got around to doing something similar for the H4 Resource Editor. I'm pretty sure there are images in that thread with some instructions, I'll just have to look through the pages to find them. I'll update the original post to have links pointing to the posts that have tutorials in that thread.
In the meantime, you should be able to just look for posts with images and see what they are telling you how to do.

For the Next object I'll be doing I can post a tutorial - might find time this weekend. I've made a tread on CH for gathering all sorts of modding guides, but haven't gotten far yet. Point being CH can host the images used, meaning less risk of losing posted images over time like we've seen with photobucket and other free hosts..

I have successfully changed artifact 'Crystal of Memory' by using 'H4ResourceEditor' but there are still problems.
Let's begin with the 'GIMP' program and '.ora' file.
On the picture, you can see that I have followed naming rules:

'.ora' file has been saved and all names changed. Why? Is there any solution to keep names (from a picture above)?

Artifact 'Crystal of Memory' has been saved to 'data' folder as '.h4d' file:

When I want to start a map 'A Land Without a King' (which contains that artifact) the following message will be displayed:

Is there any way to play this map with modifications (new 'Crystal of Memory') which causes the crash?
I have made a test map which can be run without a crash. But here is a problem, artifact can't be picked up (placed in inventory).

Quick reply - I'll take a deeper look when I get to my pc - but I would first and formost delete the png extension. To my knowledge png's can't be saved as layered file, but only as individual files, which may be the cause of the renaming - I see that each layer is saved as a separate file, whereas if you delete the extention and save it as an ora file, it will be just a single file.
As for issue with picking up the artifact I may have to look into that on my pc, but I recall I had a similar issue when I first attempted to change artifact images. Note that all artifacts have 2 images, one for the adventure map and one for the inventory, but I don't think that should be the issue.
Also it appears your animation is simply empty images?

I use either this H4Runner thing or .bat files and run them as administrator and since I do that, it works for me. I don't know what is your exact issue with it though, so I'm not sure it will help you too or not.

Make them
I show you some examples and you can find all the commands in the h4util.doc to make more of these if you need them.

mciric, I downloaded your file, and placed it in the data folder, created a map in the editor to test it, and got this message in the editor:
Holding the cursor over the Crystal of Memory it displays it as Window of the Magi: Blue. So you imported your changes in the Hut of Magi Blue, but didn't change the object type or was this intended? I can play the map just fine, no crash upon trying when visiting the hut of the magi, but obviously you can't pick it up..
I suspect the type change is what interferes with the map A Land without a King, and thus why it can't read it.

Yes, you have right. Thanks.
The 'Major Type' is set by default to value 'hut_of_the_magi'.
Please if you can advise me which value ('Major Type' and 'Minor Type') to take for the artifact, in this case 'crystal of memory'?
Few more questions guys.
Have someone tried to change the spell? Is it possible to do that by using 'H4ResourceEditor'?
I am limited in my design by the size of the image ('frame 001' or 'base_frame') which I want to change for an object. As it is mentioned, bigger size of an image will result in a crash in the game. Can I expect in the future that this problem will be solved?

I'll take a look at the crystal artifact.
You need to change the type, but the editor doesn't support changing major types to artifacts as it was designed for adventure objects, so this will require manually hex editing the type. Can't explain that just by text.
If you wanna change the image of certain spells then yes you can do that.
Take a look at NimoStars post/guide here changing spell icons
As long as you're importing images with the ResourceEditor into objects (landscape or adventure objects) then you can uncheck the box in the lower part of the editor, keep FOOTPRINT or something like that. This will allow you to import an image that is larger than the original one, but the object will always be placed behind other objects if you remove the footprint. In theory you can create a single object that will cover most of the screen in the editor.
If you want to learn how modding work by manually hex editing files I suggest you look into the treads "modding revisited" and "researching how to add new objects". Info on how to change e.g. the window of the magi crystal back into an artfact is described in those treads.

Regarding spell, I didn't mean changing of an image which presents a spell, I mean improvements of an existing spell.
If it is everything discovered about hex editing can I expect that someone will take free time and post a tutorial on how to change artifact, speel and so on ... of course, if it is possible to learn for someone who is a beginner in that field. For example, 'Karmakeld' tutorial on how to replace an object by using 'H4ResourceEditor' was excellent.

Well it is like, you make a txt file and write something like this into it:
Then rename it as whatever-you-want.bat. That's it.
But if you don't want to do more than simple random maps to play, you don't even need to create such files. In that case H4Runner can do the job for you. These .bat files are useful only if there is a chain of commands that you want to use often, because this way you don't have to write those commands every single time.

iLiveInAbOx05 is the one to answer your question about the artifact feature. I can post how you change it by hex editing in any case.
To my knowledge we don't know how to improve spells, other than what can be edited in the spell.table file. You'll need the H4 text editor for that. And the extracted file. You can edit the value of some spells within that file. But I don't recall anyone having posted info about changing artifacts and spells, simply coz most of them are hardcoded and we don't know what hex values translate to.
A few years ago I knew nothing about hex editing so you can definitely learn it, just take it step by step and read all the relevants posts to understand the basics.
I have started a tutorial tread on CH where i planned to collect and post all shared info about the various kinds of modding, not just hex editing, but it's finished at the moment..

Inspired by the 'Game of Thrones' I have designed the new pyramid for HOMM4 (rough 3d model without texture).
The problem is that this new pyramid exceeds the original's size. I have tried a few times to replace it (with 'H4ResourceEditor') but unsuccessfully.
Down, you will find a link with flat color rendered pyramid and belonging shadow. Maybe you will be successful and save my pyramid.
download link
Resend me .ora file (but tested) and later I will upload new artwork. Thanks.
