How to open maps in map editor?

How do you open the existing maps in the map editor to modify them? Or open maps from HMM5 & HoF in ToE?

I did download the but when i double click on them it does launch the map editor but i get an error message that they cannot be opened.  Am i doing something wrong?  thx
