Living aboard a Boat The Essentials You Need to Know

Timeline
How much time can you devote to this journey? Ideally, you'll need at least a week in order to take advantage of your liveaboard. Don't forget that you'll need a bit of time to clean off your gas prior to flying back home. There's a chance that you did not have enough time to completely off-gass your open water course. This guide on flying after diving will help refresh your memory.

Keep in mind that you'll need a little bit of energy when you dive on your trip. The majority of experienced liveaboard divers would like at least two days before and after their dive to unwind.

Season
When are you going to dive? It's crucial to take this into consideration when you are deciding on your destination. Most places, the liveaboard season doesn't run all year and having a particular month in mind may restrict your options.

You should ensure that you are aware of the availability of a particular species if your dream vacation revolves around it. Divers ' favorite species like whale sharks and manta rays are found all throughout the year in specific areas, yet only show up during migration in others.

The weather is another important aspect to consider when you book your Banda sea diving hammerhead. It is important to know the climate for your specific dates. Keep in mind that elements like wind and rain can spoil your vision, or cancel a trip.

Other seasonal considerations like tropical storms and peak travel prices must be considered as well. Research the country that you are visiting, and be sure that there aren't any surprises in store.

SKILL
It's possible that divers should not dive in all places that are appropriate for your current skills and experience. These two aspects are what PADI refers to as "your personal diving limits".

Your qualifications are closely tied to your skills as an instructor. All liveaboard divers some require advanced open water certification or more. This ensures that everyone within the group is confident in diving at a depth of 60 feet (18 metres).

Liveaboards are often in protected marine parks and protected areas. Certain regions might require you to do an "check-out" dive. The dive crew on board will assess your diving skills and decide if your buoyancy and general practices are suitable for the environment you will be diving in.

Are you unsure whether your application is accepted? Take a look at our guides on improving your buoyancy and safe dive practices to improve your skills and knowledge.

Experience
To enjoy your time underwater, you must master the basics of diving. However, it's not enough with knowledge and experience. It is possible to earn advanced open water diving certification with less than ten dives.

The more dives you take, the more comfortable you will become in the underwater world. This experience will help you to think clearly, resolve problems and be more safe even in challenging conditions. Through practice the skill, you'll be more likely to be able to adapt to different settings.

For this reason, some operators might ask you to have at least a certain number of log dives in order to qualify. This is a further necessity for your safety even though it might sound absurd. Be sure to carry your log book regardless of whether the person who is in charge requests it or not.

Budget
The amount you can spend on your trip will determine the number of days you spend at sea and where you go. Make sure you make these decisions prior to making your reservation, and keep your other travel goals in your mind.

Be sure to decide prior to departure which amenities are important to you on your cruise. Luxury boats often include over the top features such as hot tubs and private decks. In addition, some budget-friendly models may have dormitory style rooms best designed for backpackers.

Make sure that your budget should include the cost of marine park fees and permits that the area requires. It is also important to plan for some expenses while travelling to and from your port of departure like food, baggage handling, and taxis.

Tipping is not part of the advertised price of liveaboards. Based on the level of service received an acceptable rate is between 10 and 20 percent.

Always keep a spare cash in your wallet to be prepared. While emergencies are not likely, it's best to be ready. Travel insurance is a must for diving with liveaboards, however you may have to make a cash payment upfront and request reimbursement later
