Damwon Gaming was first introduced to us during 2018 Worlds. Most of the teams had been telling us about Damwon Gaming's junior Korean team in scrims , and how they would be the best in all over the world at LCK next year. They didn't quite meet the expectations throughout the next year. Damwon Gaming had a little improvement in the latter part of 2019 and qualified for Worlds but their performance wasn't very impressive, as they fell to G2 Esports in the quarter-finals. In the year that they bought Ghost from Sandbox Gaming and their results increased with each match they played. Damwon are only one step away from achieving the ultimate honor in "League of Legends" and also being part of an elite group of teams that will win the "Summoner's Cup" however, there are many fans wondering who the players are and where they came from? Top: Nuguri
In the early days of his professional career, Nuguri was a hardworking high school student who had an interest in playing videogames. However, he began to focus more on League of Legends than his studies. He was a participant in an online cafe tournament, which led to his first offer to be a part of a professional team and participated in IGS for the entire year. Jungler: Canyon
Canyon is the only LCK jungler to possess an e-pentakill, but the road to this point wasn't without its challenges. Canyon joined Damwon Gaming late 2018, and was a major part of the scrims Kings' era. But, Canyon played among the best junglers in the world at the age of 17. It must have been thrilling for him to be able to defeat the best of them. Canyon was the same in 2019, but eventually other players picked up his strategy and this affected Damwon Gaming's performance.
Damwon and Canyon have been working hard throughout the year and they have finally made it to the promised land and their greatest achievement was their revenge against G2 Esports last week, in the semi-finals. Canyon finally overcame every single jungler that he was defeated by last year. the only thing that stops him from winning the Summoner's Cup this week is Suning Gaming.
Mid: Showmaker
We can tell from his interviews that Showmaker is the most competitive player on the team. Showmaker replied to a question about how important he was to the team's success. He stated, "I feel like I become overwhelmed even when I win and lose. It is difficult for 20-year-old players to be able to handle the expectations of the thousands of fans who cheer on them each week, however Showmaker was able to make that his reason to beat the odds. Showmaker is trusted by everyone on the team, and is often referred to by him as the most vocal player. But, Showmaker has frequently spoken about his doubts regarding himself.
Showmaker stated in an interview earlier this year that he is the best he has ever been but soon after said that he still thinks things such as: "What if I get single-handedly killed tomorrow?" G2 Esports were on Showmaker's mind all this year, and he would always mention the desire to take revenge on last year's elimination and with their victory last week, we witnessed how content the player was. He kept emotes in his e-mails and even did a heist on G2 Esports' post-game celebration just to show them that he isn't going to allow any disrespect to his region and team members in the future. We will be seeing the Showmaker who's more at ease and confident in the past, as his eyes are towards the future.
Beryl Support
Beryl is the main shotcaller for Damwon Gaming and why shouldn't be? Beryl has been with Damwon Gaming the longest and is the oldest member of the group. Beryl was an ADC however, Nuclear was a member of Damwon Gaming in H2K and he agreed to play with Hoit as an assistant player. Beryl was on the sidelines constantly learning more about his teammates and the game itself, but Coach Kim was not consistent with his team selection and he was never given an opportunity to showcase his ability as a world class support. Damwon Gaming players often joke that Baryl isn't just the support but a top laner as well as a jungler, mid laner and the ADC for the team simultaneously, because of how much he travels around the map and helps his teammates in every corner of the rift.
