Consider These Factors Before Making A Huge Decision
The most important factor to make better business and life decisions is pretty easy to do. You need to ask yourself better questions.
It's easy for people to become consumed by the idea of creating, inventing, and doing things continuously in a hectic life.
You are more efficient, efficient and productive when you work.
However, you'll notice that what you (and all of us) generally aren't great at? Noodling. Marinating. Pondering.
It's a vital skill when it comes to major life decisions. To make intelligent, informed choices you should be able to logically think and emotionally feel through your options from multiple angles prior to making a decision.
If you're at the point of having to make a major decision , such as whether you should accept a job you've been offered or launch a new product to the marketplace, here are eight considerations you can consider to aid you in evaluating your options. They are based on Tony Stoltzfus' book, "Coaching Questions: A Coach's Guide to Powerful Questions."
1. Rationality
First, run this decision through the rational and analytical part of your brain. Make a list of the pros and cons of your options. If you're considering a decision on whether or not to accept on a new position, for example, you may think of "more cash" as a pro and "less time at the home" as a con. 2. Intuition
When you're flitting between several options, your intuition is one of your strongest tools for making decisions. For a moment, just concentrate on your senses and forget about other things. Just sit quietly for a few minutes, and then consider the decision. What emotions come up? Are they joyful ones? Or maybe the heebie jeebies?
3. Relationships
Your decisions will have an impact on the people you love, regardless of whether you're married or single, have or without children, or even if you live alone or share a room with six others. Consider how your decision will affect those around you to help you weigh it.
As an example, does the new job mean less time spent at home with your partner? It could also mean that your husband could be fired because of the increased salary?
4. Alignment
Any decision you make to be in line with your values, passions, values, and priorities or I guarantee it's unlikely to feel like you've made the right choice. Before you can determine if the choice is aligned with the things that matter the most to you, first you must determine the values, passions, and values are. Next, you should make an inventory of ways that your decision is aligned (or doesn't align) with these values.
5. Counsel
You're certain of how your decision will affect others in your life. But what do these people think about the decision you're about to make will affect you? Talk about your options with your partner, family members, friends, colleagues, mentors, and coworkers. What do they think?
It's difficult to slow down when you're used in a million miles per hour. To ensure that you give yourself the space to consider your options with these considerations I recommend that you set yourself a date to reach your decision within. This lets your brainand potential employers, who are waiting to hear your response, know that a deadline is approaching. It gives you the chance to consider your options and make the right decision. |
