Improved shipyards

Let's imagine you have build shipyard into your town or you have flagged an external one. You are on your ship near your own shipyard. When you click on the shipyard (or on the town. Towns with shipyards looks different) your ships sails next to the shipyard and it opens a shipyard screen. At towns there is two army rows at the bottom of the screen: visiting army and garrison. Above them is one row more, ship(s). Your army in that ship is now in that row. At the end of that row is number telling how many ships there are waiting at the shipyard and grey "Purchase a ship" button. Here you can easily move creatures from the ship to garrison or visiting row and vice versa (there are arrows like in caravan screen): and without any movement cost!

Well you move your troops out of the ship and it "dissappears" out of the map. When you move even one of your troops to the ship row, the ship will appear again on the map. When you move the ship the ship row will be empty. When the number of ships is decreased to zero the row will be greyed out and the "Purchase a ship" will be enabled. Then you click on it the row will be enabled again and the button will be greyed (you lose resource of course).

With external dwellings the screen is same except there is no garrison row.

Now, there's neutral/or enemy's shipyard/town near you. If there is no guardians at garrison just go there. The town/shipyard will be yours (you have to defeat those possible creatures at the ship row first). But if there are guardians you have to defeat them on the interesting looking ship against wall combat screen (just like normal siege, but instead of moat, gate and ground there is boat) where are blanks enabling movement between them. After you win you will get the town. You can go there with the normal style and if there were visiting army (it is near your castle but not in your castle, got it?) you can kill them. Same thing works if you attack the town normal way and there was a visiting ship.

You want the shipyards to have their own "city screens"? Correct? If so, why? Not saying that it's a bad idea, just wondering what the intention of such a feature would be. Just to have another fighting arena?

Nice to see you here, by the way, remember you from the resource center forum.

The idea is not bad. This is my take on how it should work, taking several of your ideas and adding some of my own.

What I would like is an option to:
A) Board the Boat by visiting the Shipyard. (And this would work both on the Town Screen, by clicking the Shipyard and on the Adventure Map.)

When you Board the Boat, you could simply (in Town Screen) replace the garrison troops with free slots and you board the Boat by moving troops into the slots. You don't necessarily have to add a third row of troops. (This requires you to put the units you want to Board in the Visiting slots before you open the "Board the Boat" interface.)

I believe it would be very unusual for a player to want to board several ships in a row, so I believe it's acceptable that you enter and leave the "Board Boat" interface as many times as you want to board ships in that case.

B) When you Purchase Boats, they're not placed on the adventure screen. Instead, the Boat is part of the Shipyard. So if an enemy takes the town/shipyard they get any ships that are constructed there. Right now, it's often so that Boats Purchased are placed on inaccessible locations or in the case of towns on Locations on the other side of the town and two days travel away. The Boat is placed on the Adventure Map first when somebody Boards the Boat.

C) Dock boats into Towns and Shipyards. That is you can travel to Shipyards and Towns with Shipyards from the Sea. So I guess the Adventure Map would show a "Dock" symbol over these locations. In case of a Town this will place the Troops in the Town's Garrision, and if there's no space for the troops there they'll be placed outside the Town.

D) Add a Garrison for external Shipyards so you can defend them with troops. (I don't suggest this for towns. The normal town garrison will have to act as defenders of the town's shipyard.)

E) Add an Option to attack Towns with Shipyards from the Sea. (It would give a new siege screen.)

F) Add an Option To Caravan Empty Boats between Shipyards. I often find myself having to construct Boats in any number of places. This would likely help in decreasing the need to construct boats.
