Your favourite map!
This is the thread in which you state your favourite map. This serves two functions. The mapmaker (if you include his or hers name) gets some well-earned credit, and most importantly, I (and others, of course) get to play some great maps!
I have HOMMIII and AB
No small maps, please.
Not too many impossible one, please.
And please add a link or tell us where we can find the map.
Thanks

Well, I don't know about any 1 map being better then any of the rest so I will put up some of my faves.
Battle of the B@st@rds 2, I like this map because I have a lot of close games. Sometimes with a lot of fights as both players try to control the middle.
Battle for Power, I'm not to sure why I like this one, probably just because I have had some enjoyable games on it. *shrug*
Hourglass Xl, simply because I find it fun. It's more like a fest map imo.
Fire War Campaign, just because it's different.
Seven lakes, I haven't played it yet but I think it looks like a lot of fun! Hopefully, I can find a game on it this weekend.
Giant War, I have to learn it for the B@st@rd League and so far, I have been enjoying it, when I don't kill off my mains in the first week.
I also really enjoy random Xl's with random monsters/water/difficulty. I can't make a link for that though.

Thanks Jiels, although I got the impression that most of these were multiplayer/ToH maps. If I'm wrong, my bad. If I'm right, my bad again. I forgot to mention that I was primarily looking for singeplayer maps, as I don't play online (connection issue). But thanks anyway, I'll check'em out!

Well, if you are going to h3trio for some other maps, you should get the Troglodyte Rebellion campaign by Crystalline Hawk. I thought it was better written than any of the packaged campaigns myself.
Hail to the king is very good as well, if you don't mind that you have no opportunity to build towns and purchase armies. (I didn't) Very good story map, though you do have limited choices obviously. If you try it and like it make sure to get Shar's war as well.
And if you don't like any of these, then I wouldn't be the one to ask

I thought Unexpected Inheritance made a great 1 vs 1 game. I believe it was one of the Armageddon's Blade maps. Maybe SoD. I don't remember exactly.

I kinda love most the classic HOMM1 maps.
Then there were some great HOMM2 maps also.
But the HOMM3 maps are simply overdone and lack the beauty of the predecessors. There are way too many things on the screen, so they don't look like part of some fantasy world.
I hope HOMM4 goes back to the HOMM1&2 style of map design.

Thanks to all, I've just finished my exam, so I'll be playing some of these in the near future.
Svetac, hate to disappoint you, but have you seen the adventure map screenshots from HOMMIV? Looks like you're at the traveling circus (not a compliment)!

Best Map Ever but Can't find it :(
I once about a year ago found a map that was 8player XL called "Evolution" I lost it to a harddrive crash.
The map was a mirror of our globe, the rampart in north america, fortress south america, african necros, tower in russia, asian stronghold, and of course the underground Inferno (hell), I temporarily forget were the dungeon was placed but it was in there.. maybe australia? and the castle of course controls europe..
This map was great with many events, triggered hex events, self building towns (in some cases), starting with 5-6 towns on this map makes for some grandiose battles.. if any can locate this I would love to get the URL.

my fav for all time is
"Islands and Caves" (or was it "Caves and Islands"), it's Large i believe (or XL - but i'm not sure about that - don't have HOMM3 here to check it out).
It got great replay value for multiplayer games. Last three time we got about 24-36 hours playing time (3-4 people).
It's from the original HOMM3 (ROE).
About the author - I think this was the guy from NWC who died recently - can't remmember his name - but I may be wrong about that.

I don't recall the name of my fave H2 map, but it was extra large. I remember a smaller map where the computer player kept sending me insults and bad smells... took me a long time to figure out how to win.
My fave H3 maps are Tale of Two Lands, War of the Mighty, Meeting in Muzgob, and Brave New World.
My fave H4 maps are The Dragon's Wrath and the Beowulf map.
